MG Round 2 Question B

Doug: We're back. Before we start Round 2, let's spend a few moments
in conversation with the players -- starting with Dom.

Dom: Well Doug, I'm from Boise, Idaho, and I am glad to be back. This
is my second go at this here game, two wins and CY$82,500 to my credit,
hoping for more, and also hoping not to make a complete blank of myself.
Though I admit to not being off to a good start right now. ;)

Doug: Well, remember, it's not how you start, it's how you finish.
Plenty of time to play. Let's meet your opposition -- Michael.

Michael: My name is Michael Clifford. I am from Marlton, New Jersey.
I am currently unemployed. I like watching game shows and playing
netgames. Doug, I have one request to make.

Doug: If it's getting you Jill Manas's phone number, sorry.

(audience laughs)

Michael: When I win, can I say "Reveal the legend!" at the beginning
of the Super Match?

(more laughs)

Doug: Mmm -- only if you say it in Japanese.

(Doug pushes button on toaster revealing Round 2 questions)

Doug: All right, let's commence Round 2. Michael, you're the leader.
you may pick A or B.

Michael: I'll go for B again.

Doug: (grabs B; walks to panel) B again and... (fanfare sounds;
audience cheers) ...hey, that's a lovely sound. It's grand question
time. And -- let me make an executive decision here.

Doug: Brian, even though you matched Michael in Round 1, play this
grand question. Dom and Michael, you each get to give an answer -- and
if you match Brian's answer, you win a bonus of CY$1000 -- which won't
apply to the score of the game.

Michael, from there, you're playing for CY$100 a match to add to your
score.

So, *everyone* on stage has a role in this question -- except for the
cameramen, the floor director... (a few laughs from the crowd) ...ya
know. The grand question reads as follows.

I have a TV Guide listing. Wednesday night, TNT, "Dallas". Ol' J.R.
Ewing thinks he's about to buy Southfork Ranch from his brother Bobby.
Turns out J.R.'s been tricked and has ended up buying << BLANK >>
instead.

(audience laughs) (think music plays)

Doug: Oh, this oughta be a good one. Michael, I'll take your
answer first. Dom, I'll get your answer for the bonus. Question
again.

I have a TV Guide listing. Wednesday night, TNT, "Dallas". Ol' J.R.
Ewing thinks he's about to buy Southfork Ranch from his brother Bobby.
Turns out J.R.'s been tricked and has ended up buying << BLANK >>
instead.

Michael: I'm going with a different type of ranch. I will say
Hidden Valley Ranch.

(audience laughs and applauds)

Doug: Ahhh, clever. Dom, what say ye?

Dom: Jeannie's Lamp.

(more laughs)

Doug: Funny you mention that. Remember this in the last season of the
original "Dallas" series? There was a story arc involving Lee Ann de
la Vega, which Barbara Eden played -- and, thus, it reunited her
with her "I Dream of Jeannie" co-star, Larry Hagman.

Well, let's go right to Brian's answer -- because if he said
Hidden Valley Ranch or Jeannie's lamp, we're paying out a grand.
Brian, show and tell.

Brian: Well Ol' JR is getting on in years, and rather than buying
Southfork ranch he bought (card) HIDDEN VALLEY RANCH instead

(dings; MG-HSH shorter win music plays; audience applause)

Doug: And Michael's CY$1000 richer. And for anyone who
thought the lone Mrs. Romney and "his wives" mismatched in
Round 1, Michael and Brian would've matched each other anyway.

With that out of the way, back to normal scoring, we come back
here to Tom.

Tom: Ol' JR may have mixed emotions about this one. JR now owns the...

MUSTANG RANCH!

(buzz) (audience laughs and cheers)

Doug: Best little you-know-what in Reno. No match as we go to Chad.

Chad: It's delicious but not worth as much...

[A BOTTLE OF]
[HIDDEN VALLEY
RANCH]

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: Heck ya, that's a match. He's up to 200. Chris, do you make
it 300?

Chris: Not SouthFORK but...

(buzz) (audience laughs)

Doug: All I'm gonna say is this -- Bobby and Kenny should exchange
business cards. (audience laughs) Let's visit Mister Ryan here.
I have a TV Guide listing. Wednesday night, TNT, "Dallas". Ol' J.R.
Ewing thinks he's about to buy Southfork Ranch from his brother Bobby.
Turns out J.R.'s been tricked and has ended up buying ...

Ryan: (card)

(buzz) (audience laughs)

Doug: Ah -- a company from another Texas-based show. Clever. We
already got Brian's answer for the grand question. Dusty, wrap this
up for us.

Dusty: Perhaps as a compromise, Bobby can give J.R. some land in the
Hidden Valley.

|SOUTHFORK|

(buzz) (a few laughs; a few groans)

Doug: Good answer, in the ballpark -- but not close enough to match.

MUSTANG RANCH | ...HIDDEN VALLEY RANCH | SOUTH PARK
STRICKLAND PROPANE | (match in R1) | SOUTHFORK RANCH DRESSING

Michael's response: HIDDEN VALLEY RANCH
Dom's response: JEANNIE'S LAMP
Brian's response: HIDDEN VALLEY RANCH

Doug: Michael, you picked up another match and an extra CY$1000 on the
bonus question. Dom, need to get on the board here.
