MG Round 2 Question A

Doug: (grabs A; walks to panel) All right, everyone on the panel
deals with Matt's question since he has a whole lotta nothing.
Let's see if nothing turns into something with this...

I have a TV Guide listing. Wednesday night, TV Land, "Hot in Cleveland".
Tori's agent tells her she's been tapped to star in a reimagined version
of a TV series from the '70s. The bad news -- it's a remake of << BLANK >>.

(audience laughs) (think music plays)

Doug: And they're ready. Matt, let's see if you can get on the board
with this.

I have a TV Guide listing. Wednesday night, TV Land, "Hot in Cleveland".
Tori's agent tells her she's been tapped to star in a reimagined version
of a TV series from the '70s. The bad news -- it's a remake of << BLANK >>.

Matt: "The Mary Tyler Moore Show".

(audience boos)

Doug: Well, I can see that logic for two reasons. One, Mary Tyler Moore
had that guest star stint some time ago on "Hot in Cleveland" -- sprinkled
with that "I hate spunk" dialog.

(a few laughs from the crowd)

Doug: Oh, you remember that show. The other, of course, being Betty White
was on that show as well. But -- I think we can do worse than "Mary Tyler
Moore Show". Jay, what came to mind?

Jay: You know Doug, the problem is they want her to dress up as that
forever memorable [H.R. Puffinstuff]!

(buzz) (a few laughs from the crowd)

Doug: Eh, there ya go. Chad, over to you now.

Chad: Nothing more needs to be said.

[SUPERTRAIN]

(buzz) (audience cheers)

Doug: See, *there's* the answer. Probably the worst show of that or any
decade. Chris, what say ye?

Chris: So many God-awful 70s shows...so few the average viewer can
actually REMEMBER these days. But here's one I'm SURE "Tori" has heard
of from her co-star:

+------------+
| ONE DAY AT |
| A TIME |
+------------+

(buzz) (audience boos)

Doug: Well, the thinking's the same. Indeed Valerie Bertinelli was
on that show as well as "Cleveland". But "One Day" was on -- what?
Nine? Ten seasons? I think "Mary Tyler Moore Show" had seven or
eight. Anyway, we come down to Ryan. I have a TV Guide listing.
Wednesday night, TV Land, "Hot in Cleveland". Tori's agent tells
her she's been tapped to star in a reimagined version of a TV series
from the '70s. The bad news -- it's a remake of ...

Ryan: This one was kind of hard, the only thing I could think of was...

+===========================+
| The Mary Tyler Moore Show |
+===========================+

(ding) (audience cheers)

Doug: (shakes head) Funny little game, ain't it? I didn't Matt's
answer stood a snowball's chance in Ecuador and look what happens.
We've got a tie game. Dean, do you break this tie?

Dean: I don't know why, but the first thing that came to my mind was...

+------------+
| SUPERTRAIN |
+------------+

(buzz) (audience cheers)

Doug: Another "Supertrain". Also known as "Stupor Train".
Mystic one, wrap this up for us.

Mystic Girl: I think I have a good answer here...

Chico and the Man

(buzz) (audience boos)

Doug: What were you expecting from the 6th seat, eh? (audience laughs)

H.R. PUFNSTUF | SUPERTRAIN | ONE DAY...TIME
THE M.T.M. SHOW | SUPERTRAIN | CHICO...MAN

Matt's answer: THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW

Doug: Well, who knew? Tie score at the end of two rounds. We'll find
out who wins the semi-final and who goes on to the Hollywood Squares
final. You're watching the Net Match Game - Hollywood Squares Hour
Champions' Special.

(audience applause; MG-HSH music plays)
