MG Round 2 Question A
Doug: And we're back. Before we start Round 2 of the competition, let's chat with our players -- starting with our leader, William. A word or two about you, please. William: I'm William Smith. I come from Manahawkin, New Jersey. I enjoy working with Photoshop, Flash -- yet I'm still rising up from it -- and I also enjoy Sim Racing. Doug: Ah, well good luck with Flash animations. That's something I know *nothing* about. David, please introduce yourself to Mr. and Mrs. Internet and all the ships at sea. David: I am from Virginia. I am active in my church, occasionally reading or helping set up the sanctuary for communion. Doug: Oh that's really great work. My wife, who as many of you know is no longer with us, was active in church. Cindy and I spent many Saturdays setting up the sanctuary for the service, including communion as well. (Doug pushes button on the toaster revealing Round 2 questions)
Doug: All right, players, let's get back to the game. William, you're the leader right now. You may pick A or B. William: I'll pick A this time.
Doug: (grabs A; walks to panel) Going for the A this time around. And four people will play.
Doug: Tammy, Ryan, Brian and Will are in for this one. Carrie and Chad match William earlier and... (fanfare sounds; audience cheers) Doug: ...hey now! Grand question. William, this is still your turn -- so any and all matches you score will still count toward your score. In addition, William *and* David get to play for a bonus of CY$1000 -- which does *not* apply to the score of the game. If either of you match Tammy, the randomly chosen star for this question, you'll win the grand. You'll see how it all works as we play this... Murray said, "This cooking school I'm in must be a ripoff. The guy next to me just got an A+ today by making a << BLANK >>." (think music plays) (light laughter from the crowd)
Doug: OK, they're all set. William, I'll repeat the question, then take your answer since this is your turn, *then* I'll take David's answer. Murray said, "This cooking school I'm in must be a ripoff. The guy next to me just got an A+ today by making a << BLANK >>." William: "A plate of toast" -- but just toast. (a few from the crowd clap) Doug: OK. Just to test the system and put William's mind at ease, if anyone over there just says "toast", judge, you'll give him credit for a match, right? (ding) Doug: Thought he'd be lenient on the grammar. David? David: Bowl of cereal. Doug: Both of you have breakfast on the mind. If Tammy's thinking was also in the morning, one of you could win CY$1000. Tammy, what say ye for the grand? Tammy: Howdy Hi Doug! I went with my "gut instinct" and thought of something simple like (card) A PEANUT BUTTER AND JELLY SANDWICH. (buzz) (some applaud; others groan over the loss of the bonus) Doug: Good answer -- but no bonus payoff. OK, back to normal and Ryan. Don't tell me PB&J. Ryan: (card) +====================+ | box of Rice a Roni | +====================+ (buzz) (audience laughs and applauds) Doug: A game show just isn't a game show without the San Francisco treat. I love it. Brian? Brian: Doug, can you put this in the bad answer file? I said. (card) [A BIG MAC] (buzz) (audience boos and hisses) Doug: You're quickly becoming the Bill Daily of the panel. (light laughter from the crowd) And Will. Will: Oh, the school's a ripoff alright. You could get an A+ in that school for making a (card) [PACK OF RAMEN NOODLES] (buzz) (audience laughs and applauds) Doug: Like that. But no match as we review.
