MG Round 3 Question A
Doug: And we're back on the Net Split Sec-- darn, almost broke another resolution. (audience laughs) (Doug presses button on toaster revealing Round 3 questions)
Doug: Uh, anyway, Shawn leads 200 to nil. You get to make the choice again. A or B? Shawn: I'll try A this time.
Doug: (grabs A; walks to panel) Going with A. Four people play this one.
Doug: Pierre, Mark, Ryan and Dean, please respond to this. It's time for a Tom Swifty here on NMG-HSH. "I am a fan of professional ice hockey," Tom said << BLANKLY >>. (think music plays) (a few laughs from the crowd) (stars write)
Doug: All right, Shawn, here it is again. It's time for a Tom Swifty here on NMG-HSH. "I am a fan of professional ice hockey," Tom said << BLANKLY >>. Shawn: If there's an obvious answer, I don't see it. I will go with passionately? (audience boos) Doug: I'm -- afraid that's not the obvious answer. But let's see what they thought. Pierre? Pierre: This question didn't want to make me join the LA Kings or anything, but I said.... [PUCKINGLY] (buzz) (a few cheers) Doug: Now I want to test the system. *The* answer was "'I am a fan of professional ice hockey,' Tom said *puckishly*." Would that have matched each other? (judge activates bell) Doug: Huh-kay. Well, you get the idea of a Tom Swifty now. Over to Mark. Mark: (in his worst New Jersey accent) He's also from Joisey, so he said it (flip) DEVILISHLY. (buzz) (smattering of applause) Mark: Sad thing is that I'm originally from there. (light laughter from the crowd) Doug: Eh, not a bad thought when talking about a specific team. I have to briefly note I got to meet a member of the Devils team that won the Cup in '95. Danton Cole's now the hockey coach at Alabama-Huntsville, my brother's alma mater. Great guy. Now to Ryan, whose brother is Justin on this show. Ryan: I'm not going to lie to you Doug. I don't get this question at all... +========+ | Goalie | +========+ (buzz) (audience boos) Doug: Well, Shawn didn't get it either. Dean, by any wild chance did you say "passionately"? Dean: Fortunately, I know what Tom Swifties are. +----------+ | FRIGIDLY | +----------+ (buzz) (smattering of applause) Doug: Another good idea but no match.
PUCKINGLY | (match in R2) | DEVILISHLY
GOALIE | FRIGIDLY | (match in R1)Shawn's answer: PASSIONATELY
Doug: Brian, last chance to get on the board. You need to match at least two stars to stay in business. Anything better than two sends you to Hollywood Squares. Anything less than two sends you on a one-way rocket flight to the planet of consolation gifts. (light laughter from the crowd)MG ROUND 3 CONTINUES
