Game 7 Round 2

Doug: And we're back on Net Poker Live! here at the fabulous Bonus Island Resort and Casino. Before we start our second round, let's meet our players -- starting with Dean Scungio.

Dean: Hi, Doug. I'm Dean from Johnston, RI. I work in tech support. And I just turned 35 last Saturday. (audience applause)

Doug: Ah, well happy birthday. I turn 39 tomorrow. Thing is -- if either one of us is waiting on a chick to jump out of a cake, we might be waiting awhile. (audience laughs) And if she does pop out, leave it to Twinkle Toes over there to call security.

(DH gives Doug evil look) (more laughs)

Doug: In any event, good luck to you the rest of the game. Good luck also to Jay Cross, tell us about yourself please.

Jay: Well, I'm Jay obviously. I'm from the Chris Christie state, and I'm currently a special education teacher's aide

(audience applause)

Doug: Ah, helping nourish young minds. God bless everyone in the education field.

SCRAMBLED
PHRASES

Doug: Time for our second hand of 5-Card Poker -- and a little theme we call Scrambled Phrases. I'll give you a title, phrase, quotation or proverb one word at a time. But it'll be scrambled. The first player to buzz in and give me the actual phrase wins CY$500 and a choice of card. Blind card phrase for CY$750 when you each collect four cards. High hand still pays CY$1250.

Dean cut the cards since he had high hand the last time. Let's see if he gave 'em another good cut.

Doug: Well, a Jack and Ace of Hearts. Obviously no royal flush this time. but let's see what develops. This first scrambled phrase is a title...

YOU
A
ARE
THAN

(Dean buzzes in)

Doug: Dean?

Dean: Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?

Doug: That's correct.

DEAN
JAY

(audience applause)

Doug: Which card would you like?

Dean: The Ace, please.

DEAN

JAY

Doug: The Ace for you, knave for Jay. Let's see two more cards, please.

Doug:The Queen of Hearts and the Jack of Clubs. Next puzzle is a phrase. Looking for the actual phrase. Here we go...

THAN
IS
WATER
BLOOD

(Jay buzzes in)

Doug: Jay?

Jay: Blood is thicker than water.

Doug: It is -- and you're right.

DEAN
JAY

(audience applause)

Dean: Good job.

Doug: Jay, you've caught up. Which card?

Jay: I'll take the jack for the pair and hope to see more.

Doug: Very well.

DEAN

JAY

Doug: Jay with two knaves, Dean with Ace-Queen. Two more cards come down the chute.

Doug: Hey now. Jack of Diamonds and the 10 of Hearts. Jay could have trips. Dean, of course, will have something to say about that. Next puzzle is a title.

THE
FAMILY
AMAZING
EDITION

(Dean buzzes in)

Doug: Dean?

Dean: "The Amazing Race: Family Edition"?

Doug: That's right.

DEAN
JAY

(audience applause)

Doug: Only good thing about that -- it went through our base neighborhoods in Hattiesburg. Otherwise, kind of a letdown. Dean, which card?

Dean: Jack.

Doug: Dean spoils Jay's attempt at trips.

DEAN

JAY

Doug: Jay, we've got four Jacks total in the deck. Maybe the 4th one's on the way. Next two cards, please.

Doug: No knave -- the 9 and the King of Clubs. Little change of pace. The next puzzle is the proper name of a famous person. Proper name of a famous person. And away we go...

OF
THE
MARIE
COUNTESS
COVENTRY

(Dean buzzes in)

Doug: Dean?

Dean: Marie the Countess of Coventry

Doug: Historically, the original dumb blonde. That's right. (audience applause) Dean padding his lead. 3750-2250. Which card, Dean?

Dean: The King. Richard Petty.

Doug: Ahhh, another NASCAR reference. And with that...

DEAN

JAY

Doug: ...Dean's on an Ace high straight draw. Jay with a pair of Jacks. Last two cards of the round come face down.

Doug: Let's up the ante again. CY$750 for this puzzle. Next puzzle is a phrase.

OF
THE
TIME
ESSENCE

(Dean buzzes in)

Doug: Dean?

Dean: Time is of the essence.

Doug: Yeppers. (audience applause) Dean now up to 4500. Which card?

Dean:Left side this time.

DEAN

JAY

Doug: Okie doke. Cards are in place. Let's see who pockets CY$1250. Let's go to Jay's last card first. Jay, you'd *really* love a Jack. Lets see it it comes through for you.

DEAN

JAY

(audience cheers)

Doug: Woah! Three Jacks!

Jay: Awesome I may be saved -- as long as Dean doesn't get a straight.

Dean: Three 10s in the deck.

Doug: Dean knows what he needs. We've seen one 10. Will we see another? Harry, what's Dean's card on fifth street?

Jay: C'mon anything but a 10!

DEAN

JAY

Jay: Phew! (does old ATGS salute)

Doug: It's an Ace. Jay's trip Jacks are better than Dean's pair of Aces. Jay pockets CY$1250.

(dings; audience applause) (smooth jazz theme plays)

Dean: Nice comeback.

Doug: And with that, Jay, you've indeed caught up. Score is 4500 for Dean and 3500 for Jay. Third and final round. Stakes double. Who's going for CY$2,000,000+? Find out after this.

(audience applause)
