Joker Poker

Doug: Cards are in place. Let's see who collects 25 for high hand. Tony, we'll turn over your last card first.

(audience groans)

Doug: Oh -- no. A 10. It was a catch-22 on the blind cards. Andy, another 25 points go to you.

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: Andy has at least three Aces right now. Had that 10 of Spades ended up in Andy's hand, he'd have Aces full of 10s. Best Tony could hope for was Kings full of 9s. Just to conclude matters on the cards, what was Andy's last card?

(scattered groans)

Doug: Oh, really a catch-22. Well, game's not over until someone reaches 100 points. Let's get there with another Poker Run.

(motorcycle sfx)

Doug: You both know how to play it. Base value of each question is 15 points. For each Joker or face card that comes down the chute, we'll augment that value by 5 points. May we have the cards for the Poker Run please.

D.J.: And we have the Joker and the 10 of Clubs.

Doug: Oh *now* comes a Joker. All right, the wild card bumps the value up to 20 a question. This means Andy need three of these to become our new champion. Tony, to retain the championship, you need four. I have a lot of questions as we decide the game -- NOW!

(Tony and Andy shake hands)

Tony: Do better than I did in Deuces Wild, OK?

Doug: Ah, great sportsmanship here at the end. Yeah, that last analogy compared a gangster to his nickname. Andy, it's odd you win the game on a question about gangsters. Because in the next segment you play against -- outlaws.

(a few laughs from the crowd)

Doug: We'll get to that later. First, Tony, we've got to say goodbye -- but with more than CY$25,000 in winnings, how can we say you lost? We give you another CY$10 per point or CY$650 to ice the cake. Grand total of CY$25,775. (audience cheers) Keep treasuring your loved ones and thanks for playing.

Doug: All right, Andy, for winning the game, you may select two letters in "POKER". If you find the two highest amounts of CY$7500 and CY$5000, those will double for a total of CY$25,000.

Andy: The O and the K.

Doug: OK -- the floor director's giving us a hurry up signal -- so we're going to reveal those letters simultaneously.

(rimshot; ca-ching)

Doug: Oh -- dear -- the two lowest amounts for a total of CY$3500. Now let's bring in the Joker game.

(FF reveal sfx)

Doug: One of the five numbered spaces hides the Joker worth CY$15,000. Please select one of the numbered spaces.

Andy: #4

Doug: Behind 4 we find...

(ding)

Doug: ...the payoff card. Not the Joker -- but a payoff of as much as CY$8000. That payoff's hiding behind the word Joker. Let's see what the payoff is tonight.

(FF reveal sfx) (scattered groans)

Doug: Oh dear -- just CY$525. And the Joker was next door at 5.

(smooth jazz theme plays)

Doug: Andy has eleven-grand, five and a quarter. Come back and see if he wins CY$60,000 after this.
