5-Card Poker

ROBERT

ED

(scattered groans)

Doug: It's 10. You end up with two pairs. Robert's pairs are better -- and he earns 25 points.

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: What was the last card for Robert?

ROBERT

ED

Doug: Bad luck either way on the cards for Ed. Robert's last card was a 9. All right, let's race to 100 points with a Poker Run.

(motorcycle sfx)

Doug: In a two-player Poker Run, the players build on the current point totals. We play for at least 15 points a question. The value increases by 5 for each face card that comes down on the next pair. Let's see the cards for this Poker Run, please.

D.J.: The Queen of Spades and the 9 of Spades.

Doug: One face card -- means we play for 20 points a question. Robert needs just two correct answers to reach the final round. Ed needs five. But I have a lot of analogies for you to complete as we start the Poker Run -- NOW!

On "The Price is Right", Clock Game is to 30 seconds as Race Game is to...

(Robert buzzes in)

Doug: Robert.

Robert: 45.

(ding)

Doug: We'll take that. "45 seconds" is the complete answer we were looking for. Judge accepts.

Billy Crystal is to Harry as Meg Ryan is to...

(Ed buzzes in)

Doug: Ed.

Ed: Sally.

(ding)

Doug: That's right.

In the NBA, the Lakers are to Los Angeles as the Clippers are to...

(Robert buzzes in)

Doug: Robert for the round.

Robert: Los Angeles!

(ding)

Doug: That's right and that's the Poker Run.

ED

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: That's right, both the Clippers and Lakers play their home games in L.A. Robert, congratulations. A chance at CY$7500 shortly -- and then bigger stakes in the Joker Poker round.

Ed, hope to see you again when my radio friends do battle in trivia. For now, we say so long here with CY$10 a point or CY$350 and all this applause.

(audience applause)

Doug: Robert, the rich are about to get richer -- but by how much? Pick a letter in "POKER" please and we'll see how much richer.

Robert: P.

Doug: The P hides how much?

(rimshot; ca-ching) (scattered cheers)

Doug: Hey, if you can't get the big CY$7500, the next best thing's CY$5000.

ROBERT
ED

(smooth jazz theme plays)

Doug: James is back to play against Robert for a lot of moolah in Joker Poker -- right after this.

(audience applause)
