Indianapolis Colts head coach who succeeded Tony Dungy
Original host of "Top Card"

(Robert buzzes in)

Doug: Robert.

Robert: Also a host of "Tic Tac Dough", Jim Caldwell.

Doug: All over it and right.

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: Ever notice all of the categories on that show were in red boxes? (light laughter from the crowd) Just sayin'. Next pair.

Congressman representing parts of Illinois
Singer of "Life's Been Good"

(Robert buzzes in)

Doug: Robert again.

Robert: Ron Paul?!?

(buzz)

Doug: No -- sorry. Joe Walsh is the shared first and last name. Oddly enough, the singer Joe Walsh had a mock campaign for President during a tour with The Eagles. At the time, he wasn't old enough to take office.

In any event, we're back to a three-way tie at 10. Next pair.

"Downtown" hostess of "Club MTV"
Comedic singer of "The Homecoming Queen's Got a Gun"

(James buzzes in)

Doug: James.

James: Julie Brown

Doug: That's the name.

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: The singer oddly enough had a guest appearance on "Club MTV". James now in the lead. Next pair.

Third wife of King Henry VIII
Actress in title role of "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman"

(James buzzes in)

Doug: James again.

James: Jane Seymour.

Doug: Just beating Ed to the buzzer. Right again.

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: James up to 30 points. Last pair of descriptions.

President Reagan's first Interior Secretary
Engineer who perfected the steam engine

(Ed buzzes in)

Doug: Ed

Ed: Casper Weinberger?

ROBERT
ED
JAMES

(buzz)

Doug: No -- we were looking for James Watt. And with that, James leads with 30 points, Robert's at 10 and, Ed, chance to turn nothing into something now with the big screen. Deej, guide us through this next phase, please.

D.J.: All right, Robert, Ed and James, behind these numbers are the Ace through 9 of each of the four suits. Each of you may take up to two consecutive turns at the video screen. On your first turn, you may select up to five numbers and we'll reveal the cards hidden behind the numbers.

If you like the hand you've made, take its value in points and pass control to another player. If you want to try to improve your hand, you may exchange some or all cards for new ones.

D.J.: Remember, you need something better than just one pair of Jacks to score any points at all -- or else you lose five points.

Doug: And remember, a natural royal flush in this or any other round means you win a bonus of CY$1,000,000.

(audience cheers)

Doug: Ed, you're in last place. You'll go to the board first. Before we start your possession, tell the folks about yourself.

Ed: I'm Ed, I live just outside Sandersville, Mississippi, I'm recently retired and got to see one of your game shows in Laurel.

Doug: Ahhh, yes. I should explain. Two of the radio stations I'm professionally associated with have played against each other in trivia competitions. The questions have dealt with country music, classic rock and NASCAR. *And* I've used some of the themes from Net Poker for those games -- particularly Time Machine, The Last Word and In Other Words -- just to name a few.

At the end, I plugged DougMorris.net/games, Ed qualified for this game via the website -- and good to see you here. Pick five numbers, please.

Ed: 5, 7, 12, 18 and 22.

Doug: All right, let's take a look.

(FF reveal sfx)

Doug: Well, a pair of Aces. Just 5 points if you stop here. Might as well trade away some cards for new ones.

Ed: Well, when I play this at the casino, I keep the aces and ditch the others. Let's lose the jack, 9 and king and replace with 8, 9 and 10.

Doug: Very well, let's see what new cards join the Aces.

(FF reveal sfx)

Doug: Eh, almost an even trade.

ROBERT
ED
JAMES

(ding)

Doug: 'Fraid I can only give you a nickel for that. Anything can still happen -- as we shuffle the cards for Robert.

(cards are shuffled on the video screen; after shuffling stops, the cards are covered immediately with the 24 numbers)

Doug: Now, Robert, for those who may be looking in for the first time, tell 'em about yourself.

Robert: I'm Robert McBride from Virginia and I'm a veteran game show blogger.

Doug: Any plans with the 100-grand you've won?

Robert: With CY$100K, I can pay all of my family's taxes.

(audience laughs and applauds)

Doug: Plus your own, I'd imagine. In any event, five numbers, please.

Robert: The first five -- #1, #2, #3, #4 and #5.

Doug: Simple enough. Reveal the first five cards, please.

(FF reveal sfx)

Doug: Pair of cowboys. Worth just 5 if you stopped here. Might as well take the second turn.

Robert: Keep the Kings and go with #9, #10 and #11.

Doug: Very well. A third King could give you a share of the lead. Let's see what's behind 9, 10 and 11.
