Video Poker

(FF reveal sfx) (scattered groans)

Doug: Oh man -- no help here at all.

ROBERT
ED
JAMES

(ding)

Doug: A nickel for Robert. Ed's assured of last place going into the Poker Run; Robert will be second with one free letter. James, this amounts to a free ride on the screen.

(cards are shuffled on the video screen; after shuffling stops, the cards are covered immediately with the 24 numbers)

Doug: You'll have at least two free letters just before the Poker Run starts. But if you can make four of a kind or a straight flush, you'll have more than 100 points and three free letters. A royal flush gives you more than 1000 points, four free letters and -- uh -- oh yeah, CY$1,000,000.

(audience cheers)

Doug: If you end up with something less than a pair of Queens, you'll just lose five points -- but still have the lead before the Poker Run. Now, before you draw five cards, tell us about yourself.

James: I am James Greek, I am from East LA, As in Eastern Lower Alabama. I enjoy game shows, music, classic TV, and girls, and riding jet skis. And, collecting TV Guides.

Doug: Ahhh, yes, I'm familiar with Lower Alabama. I have friends in and around Mobile. That and I've visited Enterprise. Nice town. Five numbers, please.

James: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.

Doug: Numbers 2 through 6 comin' right up.

(FF reveal sfx) (scattered cheers)

Doug: Yes, some potential. A pair of Aces and a pair of Kings. Other ways to look at this: You're 3/5 of the way toward a spaded royal flush and 2/5 of the way toward a royal in hearts.

How do you play it?

James: I'll get rid of the hearts and keep the spades.

Doug: All right, which two numbers do you think hide the Queen and 10 of Spades?

James: 13 and 21

Doug: All right...

if

thirteen

and

twenty-

one

hide

the

Ace

and

Queen

of

Spades,

not

necessarily

respectively,

you'll

win

one

million

cyber-

dollars.

What's

behind

thirteen

and

twenty-

one?

(FF reveal sfx) (Trivia Trap sfx) (audience groans)

Doug: A couple of nines. 'Fraid I gotta dock ya 5 points.

ROBERT
ED
JAMES

(buzz)

Doug: The good news for you, James, is you're maintain your lead as we start the Poker Run.

(motorcycle sfx)

Doug: In a three-player Poker Run, our contestants will race to collect letters in the word "POKER". Our two top players in points get a head start.

ROBERT
ED
JAMES

(ding)

Doug: James, for having the most points, you'll receive two free letters. Robert, for placing second, you get one free letter. Ed, no free letters, I'm afraid -- but anything's possible.

Each time you chime in and correctly finish an analogy, you score one letter. The first to collect all five letters in "POKER" wins the round and up to CY$7500.

Hands back on the buzzers, please -- because the Poker Run starts -- NOW!

Jay Leno is to Burger King as Jimmy Fallon is to...

Doug: Ed.

Ed: McDonalds.

(buzz)

Doug: No, we were looking for Capital One. We're comparing a late night talk show host to the company he appears in commercials for. Robert, James, this next one's just for you.

Romeo is to Montague as Juliet is to...

(Robert buzzes in)

Doug: Robert.

Robert: Capulet.

(James buzzes in)

Doug: James.

James: Kitchen appliances.

ROBERT
ED

(ding)

Doug: We'll accept. We were looking for, specifically, a food processor. But Cuisinart is a brand name connected with other kitchen appliances. James is two away from victory, Robert three away, Ed needs all five.

Men are to misandry as women are to...

(Ed buzzes in)

Doug: Ed.

Ed: Misogyny.

(ding)

Doug: That's right. We're comparing genders to the hatred of the particular gender. Misogynists hate women; misandrists hate men.
