Doug: Dean.

Dean: Michael Jackson.

Doug: Just beating everyone else to the buzzer. Ten for you.

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: Interesting story. The radio show host was notified that people were leaving flowers at *his* star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame the day the singer died. The radio show host kindly loaned the music legend his star. Andy, let's see if you can get in on this.

Doug: 'Fraid we have to take 10 away from Dean's total. Matt now has the lead to himself with 30 points, Dean with 20 and Andy with 10. Andy, the other players had hotter hands on the buzzers. Maybe you'll have a hot hand at the video screen. Deej?

D.J.: All right. Players, as you know, you may take up to two consecutive turns at the video screen to make the best possible hand. The better the hand you make, the more points you score.

D.J.: Ultimately, you want to make a royal flush for 1000 points. And anytime anyone makes a natural royal flush in any round, we pay CY$1,000,000.

(audience cheers)

Doug: Thank ya, Deej. Andy, last place goes first in this part of the round. First, tell the nice folks about yourself.

Andy: I'm Andy Silikovitz, 42 and single from West Orange, New Jersey. I work as a Torah reader in Montclair, New Jersey.

I'm rooting for the Phillies to win the World Series; congrats to Roy Halladay for pitching a no-hitter in Game 1 of the NLDS.

Finally, I'm taking a class so I can be a volunteer EMT for the West Orange First Aid Squad.

Doug: Ah, blessed are those who work as emergency responders. As for the NLDS -- Go Reds, PLEASE! (audience laughs) In any event, Andy, five numbers, please.

Andy: 1, 6, 12, 19, 24. Four corners and the middle.

Doug: Okie doke. Remember, there are no cards lower than a 9 in this game. Let's have a look at what's behind the corner numbers and the middle number.

(FF reveal sfx)

Doug: Well, corners give you Aces and 10s. The 9 of Diamonds at 12. Andy, if you stopped here, you'd collect another 10 points. Dean and Matt are waiting to take possession of the screen, of course.

You may take a second chance to improve your hand by discarding one, some or all cards and drawing as many new cards.

What's your pleasure?

Andy: I'll try for a full house by discarding 12 and exchanging it for 21.

Doug: Very well. The 9 of Diamonds go bye bye. What do we say hello to at 21?

(FF reveal sfx)

Doug: Hi, Jack. And he hijacked your shot at the full boat.

(ding)

Doug: Ten more points. Second place for now. Dean's about to take command of the screen after we shuffle.

(cards are shuffled on the video screen; after shuffling stops, the cards are covered immediately with the 24 numbers)

Doug: Dean Scungio's already entering the uncharted. The New Net Poker now allows for a champ to win up to four straight games. Dean, this is the fourth straight you've played in. So, before you pick numbers, we allow you to send shout-outs to friends and loved ones.

Dean: I'd like to say hi to my parents, my brother, and my sister's family which includes my three nieces.

Doug: Very well. Now you may pick five numbers.

Dean: I'll take 4, 8, 10, 14 and 23.

Doug: Four even numbers and an odd one. Let's have a look.

(FF reveal sfx)

Doug: Not a great start. Two 9s. Go ahead and take the second turn.

Dean: Yuck. Let's try this. Keep the Ace and the Queen, then go with 2, 13 and 21.

Doug: Wow. OK, I might have kept the 9s and ditched the others -- but you must have a good feeling about this. Let's have a look at 2, 13 and 21.
