5-Card Poker

CHRIS

DEAN

(scattered cheers)

Doug: *Jack* of Spades comes through for Dean. He gets the 25 points.

(ding)

Doug: However, Chris, as I recall, you had a hot hand on the last show and managed to zoom past the leader and won the game. You might just have to do that as we start the Poker Run.

(motorcycle sfx)

Doug: In a two-player Poker Run, we don't make any changes in score and we play for more points instead of letters.

Each question in this Poker Run is worth 15 points. However, if one of the next two cards from the top of the deck is a face card, the value goes up to 20 points a question. If both are royalty, then we play for 25 points a question. Let's see our cards for the Poker Run.

D.J.: And we have the King and Queen of Hearts. What a lovely couple.

(a few laughs from the crowd)

Doug: Yeah, I get it -- *love*ly couple. Hearts. Seriously, this could go fast and furious because Dean is only two away from winning this round. Chris needs three.

Remember, if you chime in and pick a wrong answer, your opponent automatically plays the next question unopposed. Good luck and play carefully as we start this Poker Run -- NOW!

Mitre and jig are types of...
\ drills
\ saws
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Dean buzzes in)

Doug: Dean.

Dean: Saws.

(ding)

Doug: That's right. Dean needs one more for the win. Chris still three away.

Whitney Houston's debut album includes the song...
\ "You Give Good Love"
\ "I Will Always Love You"
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Dean buzzes in)

Doug: Dean for the win.

Dean: None of the above?

(buzz)

Doug: Sorry, "You Give Good Love" is on her debut album. Dean, you'll stay at 80. Chris, at 25, you play the next question unopposed.

When making a list of dogs in sitcoms, you must include...
\ Spot on "The Munsters"
\ Tiger on "The Brady Bunch"
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

Chris: All of the above

(buzz)

Doug: Sorry, Spot was a dragon. Tiger was a dog though. Dean, chance to win the round unopposed.

In the Chinese zodiac, you'll find...
\ a tiger
\ a rabbit
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

Dean: All of the above.

(ding)

Doug: That's right and that's the Poker Run.

(dings; audience applause)

Doug: Congratulations, Dean. A chance to win CY$7500 is coming up shortly. Then, you and Mathias will battle for the championship. As D.J. noted earlier, tonight's winner could rack up more than CY$130,000 between our Joker game and Deuces Wild Poker.

First, we have to say farewell to our departing champion. Chris, we give you CY$10 a point for CY$250. We add that to the tremendous total you racked up on the last show and you're going home with CY$43,650. (audience cheers) Our best to you and your family and thanks for playing The New Net Poker. Another nice hand for Chris Massie.

(more cheers)

Doug: All right Dean, CY$7500 is behind one of the letters in "POKER". Which letter has that big payoff?

Dean: Let's go with the R.

Doug: Going with the R. Let's take a look.

(rimshot; ca-ching) (audience cheers)

Doug: Well, the next best payoff -- CY$5000.

(smooth jazz theme plays)

Doug: When we come back, we begin the search for a new champion in Joker Poker -- and we'll start it with the Frame Game. We'll be this right after back.

(more cheers)
