Deuces Wild Poker

Doug: And welcome back to The New Net Poker. Dean Scungio's our new champ. Already CY$43,000+ to the good -- minus the trip to Encino. (audience laughs) Now a chance to win *much* more.

Doug: Dean, as you know, behind ten of these numbers are the vilest villains to ever stand between a champ and a record jackpot. (audience laughs) With or without the asterisk.

By random assignment, there's one outlaw in the top row, two in the second row, three in the third and four at the bottom row. You'll choose a number from each row. Each time you don't run into an outlaw, you win a Deuce for your poker hand.

As you know, the Deuces are wild and you can use them for anything when your hand is complete. The more Deuces you win, the better the odds of winning CY$20,000.

But so much more is at stake. If you win all four Deuces and avoid all the outlaws, you win the Outlaw's Jackpot of CY$105,000.

(audience cheers)

Doug: Best of luck, we're all with you now. Let's start at the top row. Just the one outlaw card to avoid. Avoid the bad guy and you win the Deuce of Spades.

Dean: Let's start on the end with number 6.

Doug: Number 6. Let's hope for a good start.

(dings; audience applause)

Doug: I'd say that's a good start.

Doug: The lovely D.J. places the Deuce you just won in your hand. Now let's play for the Deuce of Hearts. Two outlaws to avoid on the second row.

Dean: Let's go the other end with 7.

Doug: Lucky 7. I hope it's lucky for you.

(dings; audience applause)

Doug: Yes it is.

Doug: Halfway home to the jackpot. Now, Dean, "half" is an important fraction to keep in mind -- because half of the numbers in the third row hide outlaws. Pick a part of the good half and you win the Deuce of Clubs.

Dean: Next one, 14.

Doug: Going with 14...

(outlaw says "YEEEEE-hawwww!") (audience groans)

Doug: Ouch! Outlaw gotcha. OK, we have to forget about the jackpot. Let's improve the odds of winning CY$20,000 with the Deuce of Diamonds, the toughest wild card to win. Four outlaws to avoid on the bottom row.

Dean: Let's try 20.

Doug: Number 20. Let's see if Dean's playing with three wild cards with the help of 20.

(outlaw says "YEEEEE-hawwww!") (audience groans)

Doug: Darn it. Well, we just look forward to a bigger jackpot on the next show. For this show, let's concentrate on making a hand worth CY$20,000. Here's how.

Doug: Dean, during the break, we had you cut a deck of cards and the first two cards from the top of the deck just came down the chute. You'll choose one card -- and the other will be discarded immediately. We'll repeat this process two more times.

Doug: By then, you'll have a total of five cards. And we hope the cards you draw are higher than a 9 and all of the same suit. That's what gets you CY$20,000. (audience cheers)

Doug: So, do we start with the left or right card?

Dean: Let's start with the right card.

Doug: Right card. Is he off to a great start?

(audience groans)

D.J.: The 9 of Clubs. Darn.

Doug: Well, 20-grand's out of the running.

Doug: But if you draw more 9s, you could make five of a kind for CY$10,000. If you draw nothing but Clubs lower than an Ace, that's a straight flush for CY$5000. So, let's hope for the best with the next two cards.

Doug: And go ahead and choose away.

Dean: Let's go to the left one.

Doug: Doing the aleman left. Swing that card, 'round, please, Deej.

(more groans)

D.J.: Jack of Diamonds.

Doug: Man, we're going down the food chain in a hurry.

Doug: Thankfully, you can't do worse than CY$500. Let's hope for a 9 or Jack for CY$2000 and quads with this last pair of cards for the endgame.

Doug: And there they are. Left or right, Dean?

Dean: Stick with the left card again.

Doug: The left card. If it's a Jack or 9, you have CY$2000. If it's an Ace, you'll win the minimum CY$500 for trips. Anything else makes a straight for CY$750. Deej, please give us some good news.

(D.J. crosses her fingers and flips over...)

(more groans)

D.J.: Not a lot of joy in Deuceville. Queen of Diamonds completes a straight.

Doug: Indeed, as D.J. posts that lady in red on the board, we'll make one Deuce a 10 and the other a King for CY$750.

(audience applause)

Doug: That oughta buy you food and drink while you're taking the plane rides to New Mexico and Nevada. (light laughter from the crowd) With plenty left over to tip the stewardess.

We add the CY$750 to the tremendous payoffs and trips you won in the main game. Total for one night is...

Doug: ...CY$44,300. (audience cheers)A great total for one win -- but the best is yet to come. You ran into two outlaws; at CY$5000 each, we'll add CY$10,000 to the jackpot -- making it worth CY$115,000.

(smooth jazz theme plays)

Doug: And if you win the next three games consecutively, you'll play for CY$1,000,000 *plus* the outlaw's jackpot. We'll see Dean on the next show. We'll see you for an audience game -- after this.

(audience cheers)
