Episode 8 Game 2

 ======================================================================

(slow-tempo piano music plays over various scenes of the February 10,
2013, tornado that struck Forrest, Lamar, Lawrence, Marion and Wayne
Counties in Mississippi; cast members of Hot Dice are unseen as they
speak)

D.J.: These have been my neighborhoods for nearly all my life.

Doug: I graduated from college in Hattiesburg -- and decided to make
my home here after I got my diploma.

Scarlett: I haven't been in the area long -- but I enjoy its friendly
atmosphere.

(fade to Doug, D.J. and Scarlett on camera -- on the Hot Dice set)

D.J.: Hundreds of homes were destroyed. Dozens are healing after
suffering injuries. Amazingly -- no one was killed that fateful day.

Scarlett: We continue to work to rebuild and rebound. With your
help, we can get there -- faster.

Doug: All of us at Hot Dice urge you to make a monetary donation to an
organization of your choice -- that will help those affected by
the February 10th, 2013, tornado.

Doug, D.J. and Scarlett: Mississippi would do the same for you -- if
this happened to you.

======================================================================

Scarlett: Tonight's contestants will receive some of the following...

Fay Swafford's ten-piece ensemble of mix and match soft luggage designed with the traveler in mind. Simplicity with style, each piece personalized with your initial, furnished by Fay Swafford.

Lolli-Pups Dog Biscuits. The pet treat dogs and cats love. Feed your dog Lolli-Pups.

Dinty Moore Beef Stew. A hearty family favorite with chunks of beef, potatoes and carrots. No preservatives and only 240 calories in an eight ounce serving.

And from Gallery of Homes, a book on home improvements. Gallery of Homes brokers. If you're selling or buying a home, you'll find they do their homework.

Now, back to Doug Morris and Hot Dice.

(audience cheers)

Doug: I thank you Scarlett. Nikolai's beginning a second journey toward he Mega Roll. Here to start his own road to a possible CY$1,000,000 payoff is the man we just saw roll for a new car -- Joseph Bohan.

(audience cheers)

Doug: Joseph, we'll take a moment and meet you either after you win *this* game or at around the start of the next main game. Right now, we want to start a new game.

(ding)

Doug: And we'll commence the proceedings with this question.

Traditionally, do Major League Baseball fans stretch in the middle of the sixth, seventh or eighth inning?

(Nikolai buzzes in)

Doug: Nikolai.

Nikoali: Seventh.

Doug: Indeed they do. You're right. (audience applause) Take your free roll, please.

(Nikolai rolls)

Doug: And -- aren't you glad it's a free roll? Bank 700 or roll again?

(audience shouts suggestions)

Nikolai: It's early, so I'm rolling again.

(Nikolai rolls)

Doug: Well -- an early double decision to make. Nikolai, would you like CY$1000 added to the pot...

Doug: ...or do you want to go to the double 5 screen on the board?

(audience shouts suggestions)

Nikolai: I want to see what's behind those fives.

Doug: Going to the board. All righty then -- let's have a look at what those fives are hiding in that screen?

Doug: A bust. No score. Sorry about that.

(amounts are shuffled on the double decision board; after shuffling stops, the amounts are covered immediately with the doubles)

Doug: Joseph didn't mind that at all. We're scoreless as we start the second round with this.

Seattle, Phoenix or Miami. Which of these is known as "The Emerald City"?

(Nikolai buzzes in)

Doug: Nikolai.

Nikolai: Seattle.

Doug: That's it. (audience applause) Dice are hot for you again. Roll 'em, Nikolai.

(Nikolai rolls)

Doug: And you start with a 5. Bank the five bills or go for more thrills?

(audience shouts suggestions)

Nikolai: I think the next card will be hi... uh, I mean, I'll roll again and hope for doubles.

(a few laughs from the crowd)

Doug: Jackpot Game's later. Roll 'em, please.

(Nikolai rolls)

Doug: Well, you didn't roll a double -- but this roll doubled the pot. Bank a grand or roll the dice again?

(audience shouts suggestions)

Nikolai: Let's roll them again.

(Nikolai rolls)

(scattered cheers)

Doug: Yeah, bigger and better roll. Eight for CY$800 more. Wanna take the 1800 in the pot -- or roll and believe the dice are still hot?

(audience shouts suggestions)

Nikolai: I want to think they're hot, but I'll bank while I've still got money in front of me.

Doug: Banking CY$1800.

(ding) (audience applause)

Doug: Nikolai now with 1800. Joseph yet to score. Round 3 starting now with this.

Is it possible to lead a cow up a flight of stairs or down a flight of stairs?

(Nikolai buzzes in)

Doug: Nikolai.

Nikolai: Down a flight of stairs.

Doug: Believe it or not -- *up* the stairs is the right answer. The coordination of a cow's front and back leg joints make it hard for ol' Bessie to walk down the stairs.

So that means the dice are hot for Joseph for the first time in the game. Give 'em a roll.

(Joseph rolls)

Doug: And you start with a 5 for CY$500. Want to add the five bills to your stash -- or roll for possible more cyber-cash?

(audience shouts suggestions)

Joseph: I'll roll again. Come on, puppy paws!

(Joseph rolls)

(audience cheers)

Doug: First, for the benefit of those who don't know what puppy paws are, it's another way of calling for a double five.

Joseph, while you didn't get double five here, this is the next best thing -- a 6 and 4 for CY$1000 more into the pot.

With that said, want to roll again or bank the grand and a half?

(audience shouts suggestions)

Joseph: One more time, Doug. C'mon, puppy paws!

(Joseph rolls)

Doug: Well -- one puppy paw and a 3 for CY$800 more. Bank and take the lead -- or roll and feel the need for greed?

(audience shouts suggestions)

Doug: Brendan O'Keefe, if you're watching, you're welcome or I'm sorry, whichever response you'll accept.

Joseph: I'll bank.

Doug: You'll bank. Very well.

(ding) (audience applause)

Doug: And with that, Joseph leads by 500 -- as we go to this next toss-up question.

In 1789, a famous American wrote the following in a letter to a friend, "In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes." Was that written by Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson or George Washington?
