Episode 1 Game 1

Have more or less than 5000 artists recorded the song "Amazing Grace"?
Doug: Shawn.
Shawn: Five thousand is a lot of people. I will say lower.
Doug: According to "HDNet World Report" and AllMusic.com, 6853 artists have recorded that song. So it's more. And that means Eddie earns the free roll of the dice.
Eddie, we'll take the total value of the dice that you roll, multiply the total by CY$100 and seed the pot with that much cyber-money. Go ahead and roll 'em.

Doug: And you got a 2 and a 6 for 8 -- times CY$100 for a start of CY$800 to the pot.
Doug: Now, Eddie, you have a decision to make. You may roll again or bank the CY$800.
From now until the end of the round, if you roll the dice and they total 7, that's a bust -- meaning everything in the pot is lost and you score zero for the round.
Also, going forward, if you roll a double before the start of Round 2, you'll go to the double decision board.

Doug: There, you'll have a choice of having CY$100 per point added to the pot -- or taking whatever is behind the corresponding space on the board. Behind the spaces -- double 1, double 2, double 3, double 4, double 5, double 6 -- we have amounts of cyber-money, surprises and busts.
If you find cyber-money, we'll add that much to the pot. If it's a surprise, we'll follow it's directions. Find a bust -- and you score zero for the round.
What would you like to do -- bank the 800 and start Round 2 -- or gamble the 800 and try to win more?
(audience shouts suggestions)
Eddie: I'll roll'em.

Doug: And it's a 4 and a 1 for CY$500 more. Up to CY$1300 in the pot. Bank the 1300 or roll again?
(audience shouts suggestions)
Eddie: I'll roll'em again.
Doug: Risking CY$1300.

(scattered cheers)
Doug: And a 4 and 6 add another grand to the pot. Eddie, you're on a hot roll -- but the dice will turn into ice the moment you roll a 7. What do you want to do?
(audience shouts suggestions)
Eddie: Nice one! I think I'll go to the bank on that note.
Doug: Banking CY$2300.

Doug: Players, keep in mind whenever you bank cyber-money, it is yours to keep -- regardless of how you finish in the game.
Round 2 starts now with this next toss-up question
One, two or three. How many Presidents of the U.S. have resigned from office?
Doug: Eddie.
Eddie: Just one.
Doug: That's right. Richard Nixon -- the only one to resign. (audience applause) Free roll again for you, Eddie.

(scattered groans)
Doug: Yeah, let 'em groan. Eddie, the dice came up with the Lawrence Welk roll -- a 1 and a 2. (a few laughs from the crowd) Some of you remember Mr. Welk; I'm impressed. You may bank the 300 or roll again.
(audience shouts suggestions)
Eddie: Not much at risk -- might as well toss'em again.

Doug: Oooh -- 5 and a 2 for a 7 and a bust. The 300 in the pot is history.
Score remains 2300 to nothing in Eddie's favor as we begin Round 3 with this next question.
"Jackie Lee", "Jackie Brown" or "Jackie Blue". Which was a 1997 movie directed by Quentin Tarantino?
Doug: Shawn.
Shawn: "Jackie Brown".
Doug: Just beat Eddie to the buzzer -- and you're right. (audience applause) Shawn, your first free roll of the game. Maybe the dice will be hot for you for the next few rolls.

(scattered groans)
Doug: (trying to impersonate Lawrence Welk) And a 1 and a 2.
(a few chuckles from the crowd)
Doug: You *could* bank the three bills if you like -- or roll again.
Shawn: Not risking much. Let's roll them bones!!! (audience cheers)

Doug: And a 6 and 4 for another CY$1000. CY$1300 in the pot. Rake 'em or roll 'em?
(audience shouts suggestions)
(time passes)
Doug: Shawn?
(more time passes) (buzz buzz)
Doug: Oh dear. No decision in time -- which unfortunately means...
Doug: ...that's a bust. The 1300 in the pot goes away and you score nothing. Sorry about that.
We have to move on to Round 4. Anything can still happen. Next question.
Tonight, Tomorrow or Today. Name the catcher in Abbott and Costello's classic "Who's on First?" routine.
Doug: Eddie.
Eddie: Today's the catcher.
Doug: That's right. (audience applause) Tomorrow, by the way, was his battery mate on the pitcher's mound. Tonight wasn't even in the lineup. Maybe he'll be in the lineup tomorrow.
(a few laughs from the crowd)

Doug: Eddie couldn't wait to roll and why not? You rolled an 11. We seed a new pot with CY$1100. You currently have CY$2300 in your bank. What say ye?
(audience shouts out suggestions)
Eddie: I will put that in the bank -- today.
Doug: Taking the bird in the hand. Very well.

Doug: We're about to start Round 5. Shawn, I can assure you one of the amounts on the double decision board is CY$3000. So, a couple of rolls of the dice could make this an even game.
Anything can still happen as we go to our next question.
Mr. Burger, Mr. Fry or Mr. Dog. Name the fictional district attorney on the TV series "Perry Mason".
Doug: Eddie.
Eddie: Burger -- Mr. Hamilton Burger, in fact.
Doug: All over it and right. (audience applause) Give 'em a roll.

Doug: Six and a three for CY$900. Bank the benjamins or roll the bones again?
(audience shouts out suggestions)
Eddie: I'll try another.
Doug: Rolling again. Go for it.

Doug: Three and a four add up to a bust. The 900 comes and goes. Brings some relief to Shawn. Still 3400 to nothing in Eddie's favor as we go to Round 6 and this question.
If April had two bits, Bill had ten bits and Charlotte had six bits, who wins this showcase showdown on "The Price is Right"?
Doug: Shawn.
Shawn: I believe Charlotte wins with 75¢.
Doug: All over it and right. (audience applause) By the way, two bits equal 25¢; so April has the lowest score. Five bits add up to $1.25 -- putting Bill over a dollar and out of the running. Charlotte indeed has the winning score with six bits or 75¢.
Shawn, you have a lot of ground to make up. A lucky double outside of this free roll could turn things around.

(a few groans)
Doug: Modest beginning -- a 1 and 3 for CY$400. Now, about those doubles. The double decision board hides a CY$3000 addition to the pot, a CY$2000 addition, a double pot surprise -- which you really don't want right now -- and as many as five free rolls. We also that bust to avoid.
I think I know what you're going to do -- but you gotta tell me -- roll 'em or bank the CY$400?
(audience shouts suggestions)
HOT DICE CONTINUES
