Doug: And we're back on TBR. Let's give our players CY$500 each to start.

(ding)

Doug: Now, we're to give each of you a shot at more cyber-money with True or False Slots, if you will. Let's go to the board for the theme.

Doug: Sports of all sorts. Now, remember, on every spin, at least one row or column, we'll have three differnt symbols, another row or column will have a pair of a particular symbol and three of a kind in another row or column.

When it's your turn, you'll pick a row or column, then I spin. If your selected row or column results in a three-way split, that means you'll get three questions worth CY$250 each. If your selection has a pair, it's CY$500 per question. And a triple means a trio of CY$1000 questions.

Lori, you'll start us off with a row or column.

Lori: Center column.

Doug: Center column it is. Let's see if that's lucky for you.

(Doug pulls handle on his podium; reels on True or False board spin)

(audience groans)

Doug: Oh, if you went for the center *row*, that would be a grand. Likewise the top row. But a pair of basketballs makes the next three questions worth CY$500 each.

True or false: A Madonna is a skateboard move.

(time passes) (buzz buzz)

Doug: That's true. Next question

True or false: Avocados ripen on trees.

(time passes) (buzz buzz)

Doug: That's false.

True or false: Coca Cola was the first company to use the slogan "good to the last drop".

(time passes) (buzz buzz)

Doug: That's true, believe it or not. They used that line in 1907 and it was long forgotten when Maxwell House started using it.

Let's go to Matt now.

Matt: I'll choose bottom row.

Doug: The bottom row it is. Let's see if we get a triple there.

(Doug pulls handle on his podium; reels on True or False board spin)

(audience groans)

Doug: Three-way split, as Bill Cullen would say. Other rows would've been good. Matt, these questions are worth CY$250 each.

True or false: In "Top Gun", Tom Cruise's character flew an F-16.

Matt: True

Doug: No, it was an F-14.

True or false: Britney Spears demanded her husband to return a dump truck he bought with her money.

Matt: False?

Doug: That's right. Let's see if you can get another 250.

True or false: Daisy and Tom Buchanan are characters in "The Grapes of Wrath".

Matt: I think that is true.

Doug: No, they were in "The Great Gatsby". One out of three gives you CY$250. Brian, you'll have the lead going into Five-Card Risk no matter what. Pick a row or column that you think will help you toward padding that lead.

Brian: I will pick the middle...column

Doug: Middle column. Let's see how lucky that is for you.

(Doug pulls handle on his podium; reels on True or False board spin)

(audience groans)

Doug: My, the audience is *real* emotional today. (light laughter from the crowd) Another three-way split. Your questions are worth CY$250 each.

True or false: Tea was discovered in the time before Jesus.

Brian: True.

Doug: Discovered in 2737 B.C. Next question.

True or false: Swiss steak was created in America.

Brian: I will say False.

Doug: No, 'fraid that's true. Last question in the round.

True or false: Margarine was available in the 1870s.

Brian: That is definitely true.

Doug: Indeed it is. Got CY$500 more.

MATT
CY$1,250

BRIAN
CY$2,500

LORI
CY$500

(audience applause)

Doug: Brian's up to 2500, Matt's in second with 1250 and Lori's still at 500. But those scores can *really* go sky high in Five-Card Risk. Let's go to Deej with more.

D.J.: OK, players, the theme for tonight's Five-Card Risk is Hi-Lo.

D.J.: During the break, Harry shuffled a 54-card deck, including two Jokers, and placed the first five cards accordingly behind the numbered spaces. In this game, winning cards are higher than a 9 and lower than a 7.

In a moment, you'll place a bet on the first card. If that card is not a 7, 8 or 9, the payoff is 1-to-1 and then you'll decide whether to freeze and protect your winnings for the round -- or risk and try to double what you just doubled.

When a 7, 8 or 9 is turned over, all cyber-money at risk is lost -- and you post a net loss of your original wager. Beware the Jokers -- because they *also* represent losing cards.

Doug: Okie doke. Minimum bet in this round is CY$500. The max is the big risk -- or "all in". Wagers still have to be in CY$50 increments.

MATT
CY$1,250

BRIAN
CY$2,500

LORI
CY$00

RISK
CY$500

Doug: And Lori, since you only have CY$500 and the minimum bet is CY$500, you're automatically betting all in. For the others, please go ahead -- and place your bets.

(Matt and Brian lock in bets)

Doug: OK, the gents have locked in the wagers. Matt's betting CY$750. Brian's going the minimum. Remember we're looking for anything higher than a 9 or lower than a 7. Let's see that first card.

(winning bells; audience applause)

Doug: That's a winner. The 3 of Diamonds is lower than a 7.

LORI

WIN!
CY$1,000

Doug: Now, players, you have a decision to make. You may freeze and protect your net gains for this round -- or risk and try to double what you just doubled.

If you all risk and the next card's higher than a 9 or lower than a 7, Matt wins another CY$1500 and each of the others collect another CY$1000. But if there's a 7, 8, 9 or Joker behind that second space, you all lose what you have at risk. So -- freeze or risk?

(players lock in decisions)

(buzz buzz)

Doug: OK, didn't get a decision in time from Lori. Here's what we do in this situation.

I flip a coin. If the flip comes up heads, she freezes. Tails, she risks.

(Doug flips coin in air; lets it land on floor)

Doug: And it's -- heads. So Lori's assured of ending this round with CY$1000. As for the others, will their risk pay off? Let's see that second card.

(winning bells; audience applause)

Doug: *Just* higher than a 9. But a winner nonetheless.

Doug: Well, fellers, care to risk again? If you do and the third card's a winner, we pay Matt another 3000 and Brian 2000 more.

Freeze or risk?
