Doug: We're back on TBR -- but one of these players will be boarding a ferry bound for the island of consolation prizes. (light laughter from the crowd) One way. (more laughter) So let's give 'em CY$750 each to start.
JOHN
CY$950JOSEPH
CY$1,250RICK
CY$3,550
Doug: Now in this round, we're going to put four categories on the board. Each category has four questions. Each question in this round is worth CY$750. After that, we play the Final Risk. Let's see our Round 3 categories for today.
BETTER KNOWN AS FEMALE SINGERS BROTHERS AND SISTERS CALIFORNIA'S GOVERNATOR Doug: We have Better Known As, Female Singers, Brothers and Sisters and (tries to impersonate Arnold Schwarzenegger) Cal-ee-forn-ee-ah's Gov-ah-na-tah.
(light laughter from the crowd)
Doug: John, you're low man on the totem pole. You start.
John: I happen to have two sisters so let's go with brothers and sisters.
Doug: Brothers and Sisters -- let's see if you can pump up the volume with these.
True or false: Members of the singing group The Lennon Sisters are all related to each other.
John: True.
Doug: That's right.
True or false: Members of the country music group The Statler Brothers are all related to each other.
John: False, only two of the four members are related.
Doug: Right on all counts -- Don Reid and Harold Reid.
True or false: Members of the Southern rock group The Allman Brothers Band are all related to each other.
John: False.
Doug: That's right. One more.
True or false: Members of the disco group Sister Sledge are all related to each other.
John: True.
Doug: That's a sweep!
JOHN
CY$3,950JOSEPH
CY$1,250RICK
CY$3,550
Doug: John enjoys the lead for the moment. Joseph, three categories left.
BETTER KNOWN AS FEMALE SINGERS CALIFORNIA'S GOVERNATOR Joseph: Let's go with "Better Known As...", please, Doug.
Doug: Better Known As it is. Remember, each right answer pays CY$750.
True or false: James Losterburg is better known as Engelbert Humperdinck.
Joseph: I think that's false.
Doug: James is better known as Iggy Pop.
True or false: Scott Thompson is better known as Carrot Top.
Joseph: True?
Doug: That's right.
True or false: David Kotkin is better known as David Copperfield, a famous illusionist.
Joseph: True.
Doug: Three for three. One more for a sweep.
True or false: Reginald Dwight is better known as Ringo Starr.
Joseph: I know that's false!
Doug: Reginald is Elton John to most of us. And that's a sweep.
JOHN
CY$3,950JOSEPH
CY$4,250RICK
CY$3,550
Doug: Joseph now in the lead -- but Rick has yet to tackle the True or False board in this round. Rick, will it be the lady vocalists or Ahnold?
FEMALE SINGERS CALIFORNIA'S GOVERNATOR Rick: I like to think I'm a ladies man, so I'll take Female Singers.
Doug: Ladies it is. Two of you will have to deal with Arnold in The Big Risk round. But that's later. For now, Female Singers.
True or false: Madonna made her movie acting debut in "Shanghai Surprise".
Rick: False
Doug: She made her debut in "Desperately Seeking Acting Lessons" -- uh, I mean -- "Susan".
(light laughter from the crowd)
True or false: Joss Stone wears shoes while onstage.
Rick: False
Doug: That's right. She prefers to go shoeless because she notes she gets nervous and doesn't want to fall over. Next question.
True or false: Christine McVie was a member of Fleetwood Mac.
Rick: True
Doug: Three for three. Let's see if you can make it a sweep here.
True or false: The members of the musical duo The Wreckers were sisters.
Rick: True
Doug: Oh no. Michelle Branch and Jessica Harp are not related. They've since disbanded and decided to focus more on their respective solo projects. But you got three right for another CY$2250.
JOHN
CY$3,950JOSEPH
CY$4,250RICK
CY$5,800
Doug: Scores going in to the Final Risk: Rick with 5800, Joseph with 4250 and John with 3950. The Final Risk represents your last chance to improve your score before The Big Risk round. Only two of you go to The Big Risk round.
D.J. will not only explain how this particular Final Risk works -- she'll also take part.
D.J.: That's right, Doug. Tonight is the debut of our brand new game of chance...
D.J.: ...Duel of the Dice. In a moment, I will roll a pair of standard dice one time -- and Dirty Harry will roll the same dice once. We're competing to see who'll roll the higher total number.
Before we roll, you have to predict the winner -- me, the hostess, or him, the dealer. A correct wager pays even money.
But notice we offer a betting option of "tie". If you bet on the tie and my total number is equal to Harry's, the payoff is 11-to-1.
All losing predictions result in a loss of the original wager.
Doug: All right, thanks, Deej. Players, remember, the minimum bet is CY$750. You may go all in. All wagers have to be in multiples in CY$50. So good luck, decide carfully and place your bets.
JOHN
CY$1,900JOSEPH
CY$3,500RICK
CY$2,800HOSTESS
CY$2,050TIE
CY$750HOSTESS
CY$3,000Doug: All right, the champ's betting 2050 on Deej, Joseph's going minimum on the longshot tie and Rick's betting three large on Deej. And I like it how no one's siding with Harry.
(DH sneers at the players) (light laughter from the crowd)
Doug: In any event, let's duel. Deej, you'll go first.
D.J.: OK, come ON boxcars!
(D.J. rolls)

Doug: OK, that's a 5. We'll pay John and Rick if Harry's roll is lower than 5. We pay Joseph a whopping CY$8250 if Harry's roll totals 5. Harry, roll 'em.
(Harry rolls)

(audience groans) (Harry raise his arms in triumph)
Doug: A 7 makes no one a winner in this Final Risk -- but there's good news for Joseph and Rick.
JOHN
CY$1,900JOSEPH
CY$3,500RICK
CY$2,800
Doug: And it doesn't involve saving money on Geico. They're going to The Big Risk round. (winning bells; audience applause) Joseph, Rick, congratulations. We'll get the cards ready for that important round. So stand by.
John, CY$1900 today -- gives you a two-day total of CY$18,700. And there's more. Earlier in the game, there was a technical difficulty we believe may have been a factor in this defeat. That's an unfair advantage in our opinion -- so we're going to let you play in the next game as a challenger, OK?
(audience applause) ("A Little Less Conversation" plays)
Doug: Meantime, Joseph and Rick go head-to-head versus Dirty Harry in The Big Risk round. Since no one bet in favor of Harry in this round, me thinks he's good and mad.
(DH stares at Joseph and Rick)
Doug: I rest my case. We're back after this.
For anyone wondering what the technical difficulty was, you'll recall John missed a deadline to answer questions in Round 2. Around that time, my messages to John bounced back with errors. It's assumed he never got questions in the first place -- hence the unfair advantage.
Also, you'll recall we had Matt Tanga on standby at the start of this game since John didn't respond to early messages Game 16 started. Again, we assume he never got 'em -- until the last possible moment. As noted earlier, since we had Matt on standby, we noted we'll save him a spot in Game 17. True to that word, we will.
So, Game 17 will have a full slate of players -- John vs. Matt vs. the winner of Game 16. The winner will be in the Player 1 position for Game 17. John and Matt, we'll have to play a qualifying question only to determine who'll be in the Player 2 position.
ADVANCE TO THE BIG RISK ROUND
