Doug: Welcome back to The All-New Big Risk -- now with an extra drop of retsyn. (light laughter from the crowd) All right, we're going to start Round 2. Before we do, we'll spot each player an extra CY$500.

Doug: Marc's still the leader with 1350. The others are tied at 1000. Let's go to the True or False board...

Doug: ...which now resembles a 3x3 slot machine grid.

On every spin of the slots, at least one row or column is guaranteed to have three different symbols. Such is the case with the center and right columns.

Also on every spin, at least one row or column will have one pair of a particular symbol. Notice we have a pair of doves in the middle row -- and the left column has two parrots.

And every spin is guaranteed to have least three of a kind confined to at least one row or column. You see three bees across the top and three parrots across the bottom.

Each of you will have a turn selecting one row or column. Once you've made your choice, I'll give the reels a spin.

If your row or column has three different symbols, you'll play four questions worth CY$250 each. If your row or column has one pair, the four questions you get to play are worth CY$500 each. And if you are lucky enough to pick a row or column with three of a kind, you'll tackle four questions at CY$1000 each.

(audience cheers)

Doug: Now we normally start with the player with the lowest score. John and Todd are tied for low score. Since John's Player 1, he'll start first. Then Todd will take control -- followed by Marc.

John, you're up first. Please pick one row or one column.

John: I'll take the Center Column

Doug: OK, before I spin, I just realized I've given all of you misinformation. It's *three* questions for each of you this round -- not four. The values are still the same -- and let's see if we have three of a kind for you in the center column.

(Doug pulls handle on his podium; reels on true or false board spin)

Doug: Oh, the *left* column was the one to pick. But center row means three questions for CY$500 each.

True or false: The Big Bird costume on "Sesame Street" is made of turkey feathers.

John: False

Doug: No that's true. Next question.

True or false: Christopher Columbus led the first successful voyage around the world.

John: True

Doug: False -- Ferdinand Magellan. Last query.

True or false: Buttons existed 1400 years before buttonholes.

John: True

Doug: That is true for CY$500 more. (audience applause) You'll take CY$1500 into the Five-Card Risk. Todd, over to you know. Pick a row or column.

Todd: middle row

Doug: The middle row it is. Let's see what that gets us.

(Doug pulls handle on his podium; reels on true or false board spin)

Doug: Not a good spin. Middle row gives us three different symbols -- so you get three questions worth CY$250 each.

True or false: If you're looking for a ballpeen, you're looking for a hammer.

Todd: true

Doug: That's right.

True or false: George is the most common name used in nursery rhymes.

Todd: false

Doug: It's Jack. Last question.

True or false: Your hearing decreases after you've overeaten.

Todd: false

Doug: 'Fraid that's true -- but you got two for CY$500 more. (audience applause) John and Todd are tied for the lead for the moment. Marc, one right answer gives you the lead before the Five-Card Risk. You could get a bigger lead with the help of a lucky row or column.

Marc: Right column, please.

Doug: Right column it is.

(Doug pulls handle on his podium; reels on true or false board spin)

Doug: Ah, shuckins. (a few groans from the crowd) If you chose one of the other columns, we'd play for CY$1000 a question. Instead, you got a pair of parrots -- try saying that three times fast. (light laughter from the crowd) So three questions at CY$500 a pop. Here we go...

True or false: A kidney bean is colored red.

Marc: That's true, Doug.

Doug: Indeed it is.

True or false: Deer have no gall bladders.

Marc: True?

Doug: That's right.

True or false: A biannual event happens every other year.

Marc: False--I think it happens twice a year.

Doug: Well, all you had to say was false -- but you're right -- on all counts.

Doug: All right, we enter the next phase of this round -- Five-Card Risk. And we have a new card game in Five-Card Risk tonight. Deej, what's it all about?

D.J.: The name of the game is simple, John, Todd and Marc.

(ding)

D.J.: We're playing 3-5-7. During the break, Dirty Harry shuffled a deck of 54 cards, including two Jokers, and placed the first five cards accordingly behind the numbered spaces.

In a moment, you'll place a wager as to whether the first card on the board is not a 3, a 5 or a 7. If it's not, the payoff is 1-to-1.

You may then decide to freeze and protect your winnings -- or risk and try to double what you just doubled. The round ends when a losing card is revealed, all five cards turn up winners or all of you freeze.

Now, while the Jokers are wild, they also represent a 3, 5 or 7.

Doug: Minimum bet is CY$500 in this round -- the max is "all in". As before, you have to wager in CY$50 increments. With John and Todd tied at 1500 and Marc the leader at 2850, it's time to place your bets.

(time passes as John and Marc lock in wagers)

Doug: Waiting for Todd to lock in.

Judge Von Erik: (over loud speaker) Excuse me, Doug.

Doug: Yes?

Judge Von Erik: Marc locked in a wager less than CY$500 and he needs to wager at least CY$500.

Doug: Very well.

(Marc re-wagers; Todd locks his bet in)

We're looking to avoid 3s, 5s, 7s and those Jokers. Let's see the card behind #1.

(winning bells; audience applause)

Doug: And that's a winner -- 8 of Clubs.

Doug: Gentlemen, you have a decision to make. You may freeze, protect your winnings and take them into the third round -- or risk and try to double what you just doubled.

Should you all risk and the next card is a winner, John will be paid another CY$1500, Todd's moolah doubles to six-grand and Marc will collect another CY$1000.

So the decision here is -- freeze or risk?

(BB87 Gold Run loss sfx; audience groans)

Doug: Oh no! The 5 of Diamonds ends the round. Todd, turns out freezing CY$3000 was the right move. The others, in the grand scheme of things, didn't lose too much. At the end of the round...

Doug: ...Todd has the lead, Marc's 850 clams behind the leader and John's in third with 750. Remember, folks, there's no such thing as a safe lead on TBR. Our third round with the Final Risk is coming up. One of these players will be eliminated -- the others go to our new head-to-head version of The Big Risk round. Find out who stays -- right after this.
