Rich: Ladies and gentlemen, the host of The Big Risk -- Doug Morris.

(Doug walks from behind The Big Risk board) (audience respectfully applauds)

Doug: Thank you everybody and welcome to TBR. It's been quite a wait for this first TBR game of 2007. I'm grateful for your understanding why we had to put our return on hold. I know Cindy would want me to go out and have some fun.

She wasn't necessarily a game show fan -- although I got her hooked on "Deal or No Deal". She was more into reality shows such as "Survivor" and "American Idol". She got me hooked on "The Amazing Race" during a visit with family.

And she knew of my love for fun and games in general. Just last Christmas, we played several hands of Uno with my in-laws. So Cindy, this one's for you.

(audience respectfully applauds)

Doug: D.J. Hamilton's already over there with the players -- and she'll introduce them to us.

D.J.: Tonight on The Big Risk, Player 1, Dean Scungio defends his championship with CY$3850. Let's welcome aboard Player 2, John Montagnino -- and Player 3, Joseph Bohan. Doug?

DEAN
CY$50
JOHN
CY$50
JOSEPH
CY$50

Doug: All right, D.J., we'll see you later with our risks. Welcome, Dean, John and Joseph. I certainly wished you were here under happier moments coming into this. But I'm glad you're here.

We've spotted each of you CY$50. In a bit, we'll play a series of toss-up questions. Chime in with the right answer and we'll add CY$50 to your winnings. Buzz in and give a wrong answer and we'll give each of your opponents CY$50. After the questions, you'll each have a chance to double your score on a game of chance.

Right now, let's get to the questions...

Super Bowl XL ended in victory for the Pittsburgh Steelers. What member of the winning team announced his retirement from the NFL in a postgame interview?

(John buzzes in)

Doug: John.

John: Jerome "The Bus" Bettis!

Doug: And a great way to go out, too. Right. (audience applause) On to the next question -- it's about the movies.

Who won an Oscar for her role in "Shakespeare in Love"?

(John buzzes in)

Doug: John again.

John: Gwyneth Paltrow

Doug: Right again.

DEAN
CY$50
JOHN
CY$150
JOSEPH
CY$50

(audience applause)

Doug: Let's change the subject to TV, now.

When The CW television network debuted, most of its primetime lineup came from shows that originally aired on what two broadcast networks?

(Joseph buzzes in)

Doug: And it's Joseph.

Joseph: The W.B. and U.P.N.

Doug: And you're right for 50. (audience applause) Champ, I see you try to buzz in. Others just a little hotter on the trigger. Plenty of game left. Next question.

Long before a war of words with Donald Trump, which co-hostess of "The View" had her own eponymous talk show and worked as a host and veejay on VH1?

(Joseph buzzes in)

Doug: Joseph.

Joseph: Uh, Rosie O'Donnell?

Doug: That's right.

DEAN
CY$50
JOHN
CY$150
JOSEPH
CY$150

(audience applause)

Doug: Challengers tied for the lead. Next question...

"Where My Heart Will Take Me" and "Archer's Theme" have been used as the opening and closing theme songs of what "Star Trek" spinoff, which starred Scott Bakula?

(Dean buzzes in)

Doug: And Dean's in there.

Dean: "Enterprise."

Doug: The prequel. That's it. (audience applause) Now let's play a numbers game...

Upon correctly completing it, what is the highest number you'll find in a standard Sudoku grid?

(Dean buzzes in)

Doug: Dean.

Dean: 9.

Doug: And we have a three-way tie.

DEAN
CY$150
JOHN
CY$150
JOSEPH
CY$150

(audience applause)

Doug: Next question for the lead...

Cartoonist Gary Larson's off-beat humor was showcased in what comic strip?

(John buzzes in)

Doug: John.

John: The Far Side

Doug: Correct.

DEAN
CY$150
JOHN
CY$200
JOSEPH
CY$150

(audience applause) (bells ring)

Doug: And that's the midway point in the round. Good close game so far. John with 200, Dean with 150 and Joseph also with 150. Let's see if those scores double with D.J.

D.J.: OK, Doug. Players, it's time for the Dice Risk.

D.J.: Behind the numbered spaces are cards ranked between 4 and 10 with no duplicates and without a seven. Dean, you're the champ. Pick a number and that will determine the point.

Dean: #3, please.

D.J.: And behind #3 we find...

D.J.: ...a 6. So the point is 6.

Now Harry's off tonight -- but he sends his best, Doug. Meantime, I'll roll the dice and won't take offense if you bet against me.

I'll roll a pair of standard dice a maximum of seven times. Along the way, if I match the point of 6, the round ends in a "PASS". If I fail and roll a 7 before making the point, that's a "DON'T PASS".

Before I roll, it's up to ya'll to bet on the outcome -- "PASS" or "DON'T PASS". Correct wagers pay off at 1-to-1, incorrect predictions means you post a net loss of the original bet and if I don't roll a 7 or 6 after seven rolls, all bets result in a push.

Doug: And the minimum bet in this round is CY$50. You may bet "all in". All wagers on TBR must be in increments of CY$50. So, good luck and place your bets.

(players input bets)

Doug: Waiting on Dean to get in there.

DEAN
CY$100
JOHN
CY$150
JOSEPH
CY$00
DON'T PASS
CY$50
PASS
CY$50
DON'T PASS
CY$150

Doug: OK, we're locked in. Dean's going minimum and pessimistic. John's going minimum and optimistic. Joseph's pushing all his chips to the center of the table and going on "DON'T PASS". Deej, roll 'em.

(D.J. rolls)

(bells ring)

D.J.: Hey, 7's lucky for Dean and Joseph. Sorry, John.

DEAN
CY$100
JOHN
CY$150
JOSEPH
CY$00
WIN!
CY$100
LOSE
CY$00
WIN!
CY$300

Doug: OK, looks like the round ends with some close scores.

DEAN
CY$200
JOHN
CY$150
JOSEPH
CY$300

("A Little Less Conversation" plays)

Doug: Joseph with the lead and 300, Dean with 200 and John with 150. We'll be back to up the ante and play a little Five-Card Risk -- when The Big Risk continues.

(audience applause)
