Doug: And we're back with The Big Risk. Time to start Round 2. And before we do, we give each player an extra CY$100 to start.

Doug: Questions in the round are now worth CY$100 each. And then we go to Five-Card Risk. Hands on the buzzers, gents, and good luck...

Traditionally, what holiday comes before All Saint's Day?

(Robert buzzes in)

Doug: Robert.

Robert: Halloween

Doug: That's right.

(audience applause)

Doug: CY$100 now separating first from third. Next question...

Name the first American President to speak on television.

(Robert buzzes in)

Doug: Robert again.

Robert: Franklin D. Roosevelt

Doug: Right president, right Roosevelt, right for another 100.

JOHN

(audience applause)

Doug: Little word play coming up on this next question...

"Thinker hits oil otherwise" is an anagram of what six-word proverb?

(Robert buzzes in)

Doug: And Robert's in again.

Robert: Strike While the Iron is Hot

Doug: And you've struck again for 100 more.

JOHN

(audience applause)

Doug: From words, we go to music...

Who had a top 40 hit with "Yesterday" two years after The Beatles took it to #1?

(John buzzes in)

Doug: John.

John: Parlophone

Doug: No. Believe it or not, it was Ray Charles. So Andy and Robert each win 100.

JOHN
CY$300
ANDY
CY$500
ROBERT
CY$650

Doug: And we move on to another question -- about food.

What restaurant sold the fast food industry's first breakfast sandwich?

(John buzzes in)

Doug: John again.

John: Jack-In-Box

Doug: Oh dear. (looks to judge)

(judge activates buzzer)

Doug: I had a feeling that would happen. The correct name of the business, John, is "Jack In *The* Box" -- and you left out the "The". Sorry, but we must rule against you. Andy and Robert each receive another 100.

JOHN

ANDY

ROBERT

Doug: OK, on to some TV trivia...

On the TV drama series Midnight Caller, former San Francisco policeman Jack Killian hosted a late night radio talk show. What were the radio station's call letters?

(Andy buzzes in)

Doug: Andy.

Andy: KJCM

Doug: That's the station.

ROBERT

(audience applause) (bells ring)

Doug: And that's all for questions this round. Robert and Andy are running neck and neck. Robert with 750, Andy with 700. John you're still at 300. But anything can happen in Five-Card Risk. D.J. fills us in.

D.J.: Thanks, Doug. During the break, Dirty Harry did a lot. First, he randomly determined the theme for this Five-Card Risk. And tonight it is...

(ding)

D.J.: ...Any Pair Loses. Now, this only *seems* confusing -- but it really isn't. After it was determined we'd be playing Any Pair Loses for this round, Harry drew a card from a special 13-card deck -- Ace through 2 with no duplicates and of no particular suit. And he drew...

(ding)

D.J.: ...a King. After Harry drew the King, he shuffled a 54-card deck, including two Jokers, and placed the top five cards accordingly behind the numbered spaces.

In a moment, you'll place a wager on the card behind the first space. As long as it's not a King, the payoff is 1-to-1.

If that first card's a winner, you may freeze and protect your winnings -- or risk and try to double what you just doubled.

If you do risk and the card behind the second space doesn't match in rank the King or the card at the first space, you double what you have at risk.

We'll keep playing until all of you freeze, we reveal a card that matches a previous card in rank -- which constitutes "any pair losing" -- or we reveal a Joker, which is always a losing card in this round.

Doug: Thanks, D.J. Remember, you must bet at least CY$100 this round -- and you have to bet in CY$50 increments. Good luck and place your bets.

Doug: And everyone's in. John's risking it all. The others are betting about half. Let's see the card next to the King.

(winning bells; audience applause)

Doug: And it's the 7 of Clubs.

CY$800

Doug: Now, as D.J. alluded to, when a winning card is exposed, the danger increases. This means if there's a King and/or 7 somewhere else on the board, it's a loss. So, you may freeze and protect your gains or take a risk and try to double what you just doubled. If there's no King or 7 behind #2, you're safe.

What will it be -- freeze or risk?

Doug: But it's not -- 10 of Diamonds.
