Doug: And we're back on The Big Risk. Third round's about to start. It's the last round for one of these players. Let's start it by giving them each CY$200.

CHRIS
CY$300
MATT
CY$400
KOURTNEY
CY$600

(ding)

Doug: The questions are now worth CY$200 each. Remember, they go fast and furious in this round -- so it's important to do well going into the Final Risk. Good luck and away we go...

The word "screeched" is one of the longest one syllable words in the English language. Name three other nine-letter, one syllable words.

(Chris buzzes in)

Doug: Chris.

Chris: Stretched, screeched, and strengths

Doug: Oh, dear. I need a ruling from the judge, please.

(judge activates buzzer)

Doug: I was afraid of that. Sorry about that, Chris, and I'll tell you why.

The question began, "The word 'screeched' is one of the longest one syllable words in the English language." The question specifically asked to identify three *other* nine-letter, one syllable words.

Unfortunately, you repeated "screeched" and gave me two new words. That's why we must rule against you.

CHRIS
CY$300
MATT
CY$600
KOURTNEY
CY$800

Doug: Stretched and Strengths were on our list -- as well as Scratched, Scrunched, Scrounged, Splotched and Straights. OK, let's move on a new question...

What cast member of the original Battlestar Galactica TV series had a number one hit in the '60s with a song titled "Ringo"?

(time passes) (buzz)

Doug: Correct answer was Lorne Greene -- the original Commander Adama. On to another CY$200 question...

What does the "F." in F. Murray Abraham stand for?

(Kourtney buzzes in)

Doug: Kourtney.

Kourtney: Fahrid

Doug: That's right.

CHRIS
CY$300
MATT
CY$600
KOURTNEY
CY$1,000

(audience applause)

Doug: Kourtney at a grand now. Next question requires a simple "yes" or "no"...

Has snow ever fallen in the Sahara Desert?

(Matt buzzes in)

Doug: Matt.

Matt: yes

Doug: Snow fell at least once -- February 18, 1979. And then, the snow melted quickly. You're right, Matt.

CHRIS
CY$300
MATT
CY$800
KOURTNEY
CY$1,000

(audience applause)

Doug: I think we can sneak one more in -- and here it is...

What four-word phrase is said to be the most often printed warning in the history of the printed word?

(Chris buzzes in)

Doug: Chris.

Chris: Close cover before striking

Doug: There ya go.

CHRIS
CY$500
MATT
CY$800
KOURTNEY
CY$1,000

(audience applause) (bells ring)

Doug: "Close Cover Before Striking" appears on most matchbooks. At the end of this half of the round, Kourtney has CY$1000, Matt at 800 and Chris with 500.

Anything can still happen in the Final Risk. Remember, the player who finishes in last place is eliminated from the game. The others go to the playoff. D.J. has the details on tonight's Final Risk.

D.J.: Thanks, Doug. For the Final Risk, we've brought back the dice table for Triple Play. In a moment, Harry will roll three dice -- with the help of this huge plastic dice cup left over from the short-lived TV game show Yahtzee.

Before he rolls, you'll pick a number between 1 and 6 inclusive -- and then bet on that number.

D.J.: If the number you bet on appears once in Harry's roll, the payoff is 1-to-1. If your selection matches two of the dice cubes, the payoff is 2-to-1. And if your number matches all three dice, the payoff is 3-to-1.

Doug: Again, remember the minimum bet is CY$200. Max is "all in" and you still have to bet in CY$50 increments. Good luck, decide carefully and place your bets.

(players input bets)

CHRIS
CY$00
MATT
CY$550
KOURTNEY
CY$650
2
CY$500
3
CY$250
4
CY$350

Doug: And we're all locked in. Chris betting all in on the number 2, Matt betting 250 on 3 and Kourtney betting 350 on 4.

This much we know for sure -- if no 2 comes up on this roll, Matt and Kourtney advance to the Lucky 7 Playoff. If at least one 2 comes up, we'll have to see how the other dice come out and crunch the numbers from there. Harry, do your stuff.

(DH dumps the dice onto the table)

D.J.: One 1 and two 2s. Looks great for Chris -- but not for Matt.

CHRIS
CY$00
MATT
CY$550
KOURTNEY
CY$650
2
CY$1,500
3
CY$250
4
CY$350

Doug: Indeed, we pay Chris at 2:1 odds. The others lose their wagers -- and as Deej alluded to....

CHRIS
CY$1,500
MATT
CY$550
KOURTNEY
CY$650

Doug: ...it's Chris vs. Kourtney in the Lucky 7 Playoff. (winning bells; audience applause) Congratulations, gentlemen. We'll get the cards ready for the final round. Matt, Lady Luck just wasn't on your side in this round. But, you don't leave us empty-handed. You still keep the CY$550 and there are more prizes awaiting you backstage. A nice hand for Matt Taylor.

(audience applause) ("A Little Less Conversation" plays)

Doug: When we come back, Chris goes for CY$100,000 and a new car in the Lucky 7 Playoff. Kourtney will try to stop him -- and perhaps win a 100-grand and the car in The Big Risk round. Stay with us.

(more applause)
