Doug: And let's begin Round 1 with a series of CY$50 questions. Buzz in with the right answer and you win CY$50. But if you chime in and respond incorrectly, each of your opponents receive CY$50. Remember, midway through each round until the Lucky 7 Playoff, you'll have a chance to at least double your score.
Right now, let's begin the game with the questions...
In 1995, what company agreed to acquire Capital Cities/ABC in a $19 billion deal?
Doug: Kourtney.
Kourtney: Disney
Doug: We'll accept that. The Walt Disney Company.

Doug: BTW, go Buckeyes! (some applaud...but some Wolverine faithful boo) Oh, boo yourself. Next question...
In 1876, what frontiersman was shot and killed while playing poker at a saloon in Deadwood, Dakota Territory?
Doug: Matt.
Matt: Daniel Boone
Doug: No, it was actually "Wild Bill" Hickok. So, this means Chris and Kourtney each receive CY$50.

Doug: And we go on to politics for this next question...
What former U.S. president held the first open presidential news conference?
Doug: Matt.
Matt: Franklin Roosevelt
Doug: No, not FDR. Woodrow Wilson was the right answer. Again, Chris and Kourtney each win 50 more.

Doug: Hang in there, Matt. We still have a ways to go. Next query...
This single-named singer made her big screen debut in Arachnophobia. Ironically, her character's first name is the same as her one-word stage name. Name the singer.
Doug: Kourtney.
Kourtney: Brandy.
Doug: Correct.

Doug: And that signals the end of the first half of the first round. Kourtney leads with 300. Matt with 150. Chris also with 150.
Before we start the Dice Risk, let's meet the challengers trying to stop Chris' winning ways -- starting with Matt.
Matt: My name is Matt Taylor and I am a current senior studying sports journalism at Springfield College in Massachusetts. In my spare time I like to listen to music, play sports, and take in some quality college hockey.
Doug: Oh, my brother's into college hockey. Never played -- but he served as a sports columnist and color man on the radio in Huntsville. In fact, one of his colleagues on the broadcasts was sick -- and I just happened to be in town that day. So, Geof had me take pictures of the game at ice level for one of his websites. It was quite an experience.
In any event, good luck in your studies, Matt and in the game. And Kourtney's been with us before. For those who missed that appearance, tell us about yourself.
Kourtney: Hello, my name is Kourtney Wilson. I am a sophmore at Valdosta State University in Valdosta, GA. I am a huge fan of gameshows.
Doug: OK, two collegians against the champ. Let's go to D.J. to learn about tonight's Dice Risk.
D.J.: Thanks, Doug. The Dice Risk starts with Chris drawing a card to determine the dealer's point. Chris, we have the cards 4 through 10 behind the numbers with no duplicates and no 7. Pick a number and that will set the point.
(time passes) (buzz)
D.J.: No choice was made in time. Our dealer will make the choice shortly.
And now, ladies and gentlemen, he's now the pit boss at the Lady Luck Hotel and Casino in Philadelphia, Mississippi. He's back as our dealer on The Big Risk -- Dirty Harry.
(DH walks out to his usual chorus of boos)
Guy in the front row: WE WANT JESS BACK!
(audience laughs) (DH gives the guy a dirty look)
Doug: We miss her, too, Sir. But she's not with the company anymore. Since Chris missed his deadline with regard to making a selection of card, what Dirty Harry will do is take one dice cube and roll it.
![]()
D.J.: And he rolled a 1. So, we reveal the card behind space #1 on the board and it is...
D.J.: ...a 9. So that's Harry's point.
Time to bet. If you think Harry will match his point in seven rolls or less, bet on "PASS". But, if you think Harry will fail and roll a 7 before he matches the point, bet on "DON'T PASS".
All correct wagers pay off at 1-to-1 -- and all wagers result in a push in the event Harry doesn't roll a 7 or 9 after seven rolls.
Doug: Thanks, Deej. Remember, players, you must bet in increments of CY$50 and the minimum wager is CY$50. So, good luck and place your bets.

(DH gives Doug a "don't kid a kidder" look) (audience laughs)
D.J.: All right, Harry. Remember the point is 9. As they say on Net Price is Right, let 'em roll.
