We're back from Walt Disney World. And I got lots to tell you as we get ready to start Game 4 of The All-New Big Risk. So, hang tight and here we go.
Before I signed off, I noted there were a few new wrinkles to add to the game. And here they are...
\ At the end of a Lucky 7 Playoff, if the winning player has a score of CY$10,000 or more, the champion receives a virtual bonus prize of a trip.
\ Dirty Harry, our dealer, created this wrinkle -- the Joker Challenge. The winning player has a chance to determine how many Jokers he or she will have to avoid on The Big Risk board. The challenge is a four-clue puzzle. Each clue is a first person sentence and all clues lead to the identity of a person, place or thing. If the champ solves the puzzle on the first clue, Harry places just one Joker on The Big Risk board. But, if the player needs all four clues to solve the puzzle, four Jokers go on the endgame board.
(Need another reason to hate Dirty Harry? You've probably found it with the challenge. But it should make things fun.)\ We've also freshened up the rules for the Quarter Million Playoff. It will be something akin to J!'s tournament of champions finals. See http://www.c-gate.net/~dougm/tbr/rulesqmp.htm for the 411.
...now to recap, Gus Polly has won one game and CY$4650. He'll defend his championship against two challengers. Now, this is Game 4 -- so if you played in Games 1, 2 or 3, please sit on your hands and let someone else play this question...
What percentage of American women can belch on command?
(time passes)
I'm not even sure I want to know how this percentage was calculated. But the answer is...
![]()
...forty-two. Who came the closest?
Andy Silikovitz 42%
Um, yeah, I suppose that's close enough. And joining Andy and Gus is...
Robert McBride 35%
...Robert McBride. Wouldn't it be ironic for Mr. Net Gambit if 21 or Bust came up? We'll see. TBR rides again in a moment.
====================================================================== (Steve Irwin standing in front of a grid of green hexagons) Rich Jeffries: "Croc-Busters" (audience laughs) will not be seen tonight -- so that we may bring you the following program where contestants go after something *else* that's green. ======================================================================The Ghost of Jay Stewart: From Studio 63, it's time for a test of knowledge and a test of luck. Welcome to the game where tens of thousands of cyber-dollars can be won or lost on the turn of a card. This is The Big Risk.
TGoJS: And now, here's the star of our show, Doug Morris!
(Doug walks from behind The Big Risk board)
Doug: Thanks, ghost of Jay Stewart. Hellloooooo, everybody. We're back with The All-New Big Risk -- and it's newer than when we left you. We added a couple of twists to our Lucky 7 Playoff. And we're welcoming back a champion going for his second win. Here to help us welcome him and his challengers is D.J. Hamilton.
(audience cheers) (D.J. walks out wearing a black pair of slacks and a t-shirt that reads "I (heart) TBR"...similar to those "I (heart) NY" shirts)
D.J.: Hi, everyone. Well, Doug, it's back to work.
Doug: Yes indeed. Who's here to help us get back on track?
D.J.: Player 1 is our returning champ with CY$4650, Gus Polly. Player 2 is Andy Silikovitz and Player 3 is Robert McBride.

Doug: Thanks, Deej. We'll see you later with our games of chance. Right now, let's kick off the first round with our players.
Gus, Andy and Robert, to refresh your memory, we play each of the first three rounds in two halves -- a question half and a risk half. In the question half, I'll ask a series of toss-up questions worth cyber-money. In the risk half, we'll give you a chance to possibly double your total score.
The player with the lowest score at the end of the third round will be eliminated from the game. The others go on to that Lucky 7 Playoff. The leading player at the end of that round wins the game and goes on to The Big Risk round where CY$100,000 and a new car can be won.
Doug: Right now, let's start the road to riches by giving each of you CY$50.
