[NOTE FROM DOUG: We'll be making time for a Cyber-Phone Match at the
end of the episode. So if you vote here in the Audience Match, it
will count as entry in the Cyber-Phone Match.
For those of you who are new to our neighborhood, Cyber-Phone Match
is based on the Telephone Match home viewer sweepstakes from the
original MG-HSH series. The lucky player whose name is drawn for
the Cyber-Phone Match wins CY$1000 immediately and has a chance to
play one Head-To-Head Match question for CY$10,000.]
(MG-HSH "super match intro" music plays)
Glenn: And now, here to play the Super Match is Doug Morris!
(audience cheers)
Doug: Thanks, Glenn. Evan, congrats. That last square you captured
put you in the tourney with a grand to spare.
(audience cheers)
Now before we play the Super Match, for the benefit of anyone looking
in for the first time, a word on how any player can qualify for the
tournament of champions. One way is to win at least CY$100,000
during a championship reign. Evan's already got that covered.
The other way is to make it here to the Super Match three straight times.
After your third visit to the Super Match -- or once you've racked up
a six-figure total after a defeat in Hollywood Squares -- you're in
the clubhouse until the tournament starts.
When the tournament starts, we seed the players based on winnings during
each champion's reign. The player with the highest total automatically
plays X in Hollywood Squares with the others playing Match Game for
the right to play the O in Hollywood Squares.
With that clarified, Evan's ready to try and roughly double his
CY$101,000. It can be done with some luck and skill. So --
reveal the legend!
(ding)
Doug: << BLANK >> in the U.S.A.
Evan, if you match the #1 answer in the survey, you win CY$2000. The
second most popular answer pays CY$1000 and the third most popular
CY$500.
If you come up with an answer that ranks outside the top three, you
get a consolation prize of CY$250.
Doug: Evan, please select three different stars for assistance.
Evan: I can already think of a few. Having said that, let's go
center row -- Tom, Chad, and Chris.
Doug: Oh, taking a page from the bonus round of some other version
of Squares. (a few laughs from the crowd) Which I do like for the
most part, I'll admit. Anyway, let's start with Tom.
Tom: Born.
(audience cheers)
Doug: All right, Chad?
Chad: I know my pop music -- unfortunately -- so "Party In The U.S.A."
(audience cheers)
Doug: And finally, Chris.
Chris: Let's do Mellencamp here -- "R.O.C.K. In The U.S.A."
(audience cheers)
Doug: All right, looks like three song titles -- all good ideas.
"Born In The U.S.A.", "Party In The U.S.A." and "R.O.C.K. In The
U.S.A." As you know, you may go with any of their suggestions --
or forget it all and come up with an answer of your own.
Evan: "Born in the U.S.A." was one of the two that came up in my mind,
so sure, let's go with that.
(audience cheers) (cut to Tom applauding; then crossing his fingers)
(cut back to two-shot of Evan and Doug)
Doug: Evan going with Tom's answer of "Born In The U.S.A." By the way,
Evan didn't have to pick three stars in a row. He could've picked
*any* three stars on the panel -- whether or not they would've made
some kind of alignment.
With that clarified, let's start at the bottom and see if "Born In
The U.S.A." is the number three answer.
 |
___IN THE U.S.A. |

R.O.C.K. |
(ding)
Doug: "R.O.C.K. In The U.S.A." That was Chris Wolvie's idea. Still
looking for "Born In The U.S.A." Is it our number two answer for
a grand?
 |
___IN THE U.S.A. |
 |
 |
 |
MADE |
 |
R.O.C.K. |
(ding) (a few groans)
Doug: *Made* in the U.S.A. Evan, I can only hope your other idea
is not our number one answer.
Last

"Born

Let's
see

it's

Doug: Got it. "Born in the U.S.A."
(Evan runs to Tom's square; they shake hands; Evan returns center stage)
SUPER MATCH CONTINUES
