HS Round 2 Question 4

Ryan: Evan, pick a square.

Evan: I'll take Dusty for a convenient block.

Ryan: Dusty, time to play our version of Safe Crackers.

(Pink Panther theme plays as the doors open to reveal the Safe Crackers Safe.)

Ryan: In 1913, there were less than 1000 movie theaters in New York City.
How many were there? The correct answer has the digits 6, 8 and 9.
Using each digit just once, put the digs in the right order to unlock the safe.

Dusty: All right! Let's do this...

(Dusty walks out of the grid and over to the safe, then looks out to the audience
for suggestions. He ponders for a moment, then does some fancy flippin' of
the numbers, setting the lock to 698 before going over to the big circular lock)

Dusty: I'm going with 698, Ryan.

Evan: I'm going to go ahead and disagree.

Ryan: Dusty, turn the wheel and pull the handle.

(Dusty turns the wheel and pulls the handle.)

(the buzzer sounds and the locked light flashes)

Ryan: There were 986 movie theaters in New York City in 1913. X gets the Square.

(ding; audience applause)
