MG Round 2 Question B
Doug: And we're back. Before we start Round 2, let's meet our players -- starting with Rick. Rick: I'm from Spokane, Washington, where I work as a school bus attendant, working with special needs children. In my spare time, I enjoy casino gaming and listening to "Weird Al" Yankovic. Doug: Ahhhh, yes. Can't go wrong with Weird Al. John, tell us about yourself, please. John: My name is John Coday Hines. I am 18 years old, and I am a freshman at Arkansas Tech University. Doug: All right, best of luck in your studies; Rick, best of luck with working with the special needs children. Best of luck to both in Round 2. (Doug pushes button on toaster revealing Round 2 questions)
Doug: Normally, the leader picks first. But we have a scoreless tie. Since Rick went first in Round 1, John, you pick first in Round 2. John: B.
Doug: (grabs B; walks to panel) Okie doke and... (fanfare sounds; audience cheers) ...hey now. Grand question, time. Let me explain how this works. Rick and John, you each get a shot at a bonus of CY$1000 -- which doesn't apply to the score of the game. John, you're still playing for CY$100 per match.
Doug: And if either of you can match Mark, whose eventual answer was randomly designated to count in the Grand Question, you pocket the thou. So, literally, everyone's in on this. The park ranger said, "The guy camping at site 12 is the smallest camper I've ever seen. He's using a << BLANK >> for a sleeping bag." (a few laughs from the crowd) (think music plays)
Doug: And already they're ready. John, I'll take your answer first, since this is normally your half of the round. The park ranger said, "The guy camping at site 12 is the smallest camper I've ever seen. He's using a << BLANK >> for a sleeping bag." John: A shoebox. (smattering of applause) Doug: Good answer. Rick, let's get yours. Rick: Napkin. (smattering of applause) Doug: Napkin seems to make a bit more sense. Shoebox could the whole tent. Mark, we'll start with you first, since the grand bonus hangs in the balance. Mark: Oh, sure, put the pressure on me. :P (light laughter from the crowd) Mark: I originally thought he'd be comfortable in a (shows rejected card) moss lined baggie. But I went smaller and more natural and said... (card) COCOON (buzz) (audience groans) Doug: Bless you for spelling it right. (light laughter from the crowd) Well, the grand's out of play now. Let's finish out John's part of the round and continue to compare answers with Philip. Philip: Doug, there were too many choices for me to ponder on. I hope this is a good answer. (card) How about a pillowcase? (buzz) (smattering of applause) Doug: Again, could be the whole tent. Chad? Chad: If you use the ziptop kind, you can stay *so* snug at night! [Ziploc Bag] (buzz) (smattering of applause) Doug: Yellow and blue make for a sleeping bag. We've got Mark's answer already. Let's go to Ryan. The park ranger said, "The guy camping at site 12 is the smallest camper I've ever seen. He's using a << BLANK >> for a sleeping bag." Ryan: (card) +==========+ | Matchbox | +==========+ (buzz) (smattering of applause) Doug: That was my answer. Dean, what say ye? Dean: Waterproof, sealable and great for lunch... +--------+ | ZIPLOC | | BAG | +--------+ (buzz) (smattering of applause) Doug: Another Ziploc baggie. And David, wrap this up for us. David: He's gotta be pretty small for him to be able to use a..... ---------------- | SHOPPING BAG | ---------------- (buzz) (smattering of applause) Doug: Good thoughts all around -- just no matches.
