Ryan: The Randomizer  has selected Doug.
 
Doug, did forks come into common use in these United States 
before or after the Civil War?
 
Doug: Gosh, I would think before the Civil War.  After all, between 
General Lee's surrender and President Johnson's formal declaration
of the end of the war, either he or someone else in his 
administration had to say "stick a fork in it".

(a few laughs; a few groans)

Doug: Before historians get on my case, I'm still saying before.
 
John: I Agree
 
Ryan: Forks come into common use in The United States after the
