We're baaaaaack! Welcome to the 12th year for the Net Match Game -
Hollywood Squares Hour. Before we start the fun and games,
some more notes are in order...

\ This will be the first since the website went through a graphics
upgrade. Text is a bit bigger and you'll see the redesigned virtual
set pieces, eventually, at www.nmghsh.cjb.net and
www.dougmorris.net/nmghsh (they'll take you to the same site).

\ Robert McBride returns as our champion with an impressive CY$65,500
after just one win. He'll need CY$34,500 during his current win
or outright victories in this and the next HS to reach the Champions'
special.

\ This is Game 38. So if you played as a "civilian" in Game 35, 36
or 37, please sit on your hands and let someone else play. Can't
remember when you played? Just go to www.nmghsh.cjb.net or
www.dougmorris.net/nmghsh and click on "Archives". That part of
the site got an upgrade thanks in part to Dean Scungio's help.

\ Speaking of Dean, he joins our usual suspects -- as well as Mark
Sinsabaugh, Jason "Beat The" Block and Pierre Kelly.

....now for the qualifying question. The two players closest to the
right answer to this question, high or low, play Match Game. Winner
moves on to play against Robert in Hollywood Squares. Here's your
query.

On July 24, 2009, at 4:00pm Central, we watched a Discovery Channel
rerun of "Cash Cab". The stakes in this episode: four $25 questions,
four $50 questions, $100 questions after eight questions not
counting any Red Light Challenges, which were worth $250 each.
How much money was awarded to the contestants in this half hour
episode? Please respond in multiples of $25.

(time passes)

OK, the first game paid $1100 and the bonus was decline, the next
was worth $375 but ended in a successful double for $750. The last
was a strikeout. So, we're adding 1100 to 750 to get our answer
of...

(ding)

...eighteen fifty. Who's the closest?

Shawn Wells $1775

It's Shawn Wells. You play against...

Brian Henegar $2150

...Brian Henegar. Thanks to everyone for qualifying. We have a game
-- let's make it a great one!

Ryan Morris
and
Doug Morris

Doug: Thanks, Rich. Helloooooooo, everybody and welcome to
another Net Match Game - Hollywood Squares Hour. Hello, stars.

Panel: (basically in unison) Hello, Ryan and Doug.

Ryan: We hope you're having a great 2010 so far. Robert McBride
wrapped up last year in style by becoming our new champion and
winning CY$65,500. Already, he's more than halfway to reaching
the Champions' Special, moneywise. He'll defend later.

Doug: But as we've done the previous 11 years, we find the challenger
for the champion in Match Game. So -- why spoil a good thing?
We welcome back Mark, Dean and Jason to our humble abode -- and our
newcomer in Pierre Kelly. (audience cheers) Crowd's set -- and so
are we. Let the games begin!

(more cheers) (Ryan and Doug shake hands) (Ryan sits in the Morris
chair on the panel) (Doug walks over to the Match Game desks)

Doug: And keep giving a cheer for our challengers, Shawn Wells and
Brian Henegar.

(more cheers)

Doug: We'll get acquainted later. But let's get our first Match Game
of 2010 underway. Your mission, should you decide to accept it,
is to match as many...

Doug: ...of these Americans who've got talent as you possibly can.

Every time you match a panelist, you earn CY$100. But if you clean
house and match everyone, we'll elevate your score to CY$1000. High
scorer after three rounds advances to Hollywood Squares to face
Robert, the aforementioned current champ. The high scorer there
plays the Super Match which can pay out CY$50,000.
