Welcome to another episode of the Net Match Game - Hollywood Squares Hour. We search for two challengers in Match Game -- with the winner advancing to Hollywood Squares. Some more notes are in order... \ Chad Flake returns as our champion with one win and CY$38,500. \ This is Game 36. So if you played as a "civilian" in Game 33, 34 or 35, please sit on your hands and let someone else play. Can't remember when you played? Just go to www.nmghsh.cjb.net or www.dougmorris.net/nmghsh and click on "Archives" and "Who Played When?" \ Joining our usual suspects in the peanut gallery are Ryan Vickers, Mark Sinsabaugh, Steve Michaels and Nick Mooneyhan. ...and on to qualifying. The two players closest to the right answer to this question, high or low, play Match Game. Now this question's a bit lengthy -- so please read this carefully. On June 27, 2009, at 11:00am Central, we watched a rerun from the first season of the current version of "The Newlywed Game". Said rerun was part of a day-long marathon on GSN. Including the bonus round, featuring a head-to-head competition between the episode's winning newlywed couple and a "goldywed" couple who competed in a previous incarnation of the game show, how many total points were awarded in this half-hour episode? ====================================================================== Now for the benefit of those who haven't seen this current incarnation of "The Newlywed Game", the "major" differences to this and the "classic" series are... \ three newlywed couples compete (throwback to the Paul Rodriguez days) \ the 25-point bonus question is now the 20-point compatibility question (nod to current presenting sponsor eHarmony) \ the newlywed couple with the highest score after the 20-point question wins a second honeymoon (nod to Bob Eubanks' most recent stint on TNG) \ the "newlyweds" take on the "goldyweds" in a five-question showdown where the husbands try to match their respective wives' answers (1st question is worth 1 point, 2nd is worth 2 points and so on to the 5th question for 5 points). Keeping the bonus round rules in mind, the total number of points awarded is not necessarily evenly divisible by 5. (time passes) OK, let's crunch the numbers. In the main game, Couple #1, #2 and #3 scored 40, 35 and 25 points, respectively. So, we're already looking for a three-digit total. Couple #1 then went on to defeat the goldywed duo 10-3; even though the bonus round was out of reach near the end for the goldyweds, they played it all the way out. Add 'em all up and you come up with...
(ding) ...a big 113. So who's the closest? Matt Taylor 145 It's Matt. Let's find out about your opposition in Match Game. Jerry Depew 73 And it's Jerry. Thanks to everyone for playing. NMG-HSH rides again. ====================================================================== Rich Jeffries: "Battlestar Trebeka" (audience laughs) will not be seen today -- so that we may bring you this replacement we managed to capture. ======================================================================

Doug MorrisDoug: Thanks, Rich. Helloooooooo, everybody and welcome to another Net Match Game - Hollywood Squares Hour. Hello, stars.
Panel: (basically in unison) Hello, Ryan and Doug. Ryan: On the last show, we welcomed two Chads to our show. One's on the panel. The other's our newly crowned champion. You'll see him later in Hollywood Squares. Doug: But, of course, we have to fill in a few blanks with Match Game. And we'll do so with *two* Ryans on the panel. So let the games begin! (more cheers) (Ryan and Doug shake hands) (Ryan sits in the Morris chair on the panel) (Doug walks over to the Match Game desks)
Doug: And keep the applause going for our two challengers, Matt Taylor and Jerry Depew. (more cheers) Doug: We'll chat later -- but let's dive right into the game. As you know, the object of this part of our show is to match as many...
Doug: ...of these headline hunters as you possibly can. (light laughter from the crowd) Doug: Every time you match a panelist, you win CY$100 -- but if you match everyone, we'll elevate your score to CY$1000. High scorer after three rounds advances to Hollywood Squares to face our returning champ. Winner there plays the Super Match which can pay out CY$50,000.
