Thanks for your continued patience. As noted before, my co-workers at
the radio stations and I have been dealing with technical difficulties.
They're not all solved -- but there is light at the end of the tunnel
-- and it doesn't appear to be from an oncoming train. So, it's time
for the first Net Match Game - Hollywood Squares Hour of 2009.

Some notes before we commence...

\ First, for those who like to view the show in HTML form, please
make sure your hot links and bookmarks to the NMG-HSH website are
up to date. The address www.nmghsh.cjb.net still works -- but
there's also www.dougmorris.net/nmghsh .

\ This is Game 34. So if you played as a "civilian" in Game 31, 32
or 33, please sit on your hands and let someone else play. Can't
remember when you played? Just go to www.nmghsh.cjb.net or
www.dougmorris.net/nmghsh and click on "Archives" and "Who
Played When?"

\ We welcome back to the panel Dean Scungio, Jay "Net Catch 21" Cross,
Alex Davis of BuzzerBlog.com and Chad Mosher, a contestant from (the
apparently short-lived) "Million Dollar Password".

\ Finally, we have room for three civilian players. We just retired
a champ. So the player closest to the right answer in our qualifying
question will become our designated champion -- and automatically play
the X's in Hollywood Squares. The next closest picks first in Match
Game and the third closest will be the second player in Match Game.

...and on to qualifying.

On Saturday, May 31, 2008, at 3:30pm Central, we watched "Bingo America"
on GSN (believed to be a rerun from earlier in its first season;
co-hosts were Patrick Duffy and Crystal Wallasch). The winner of
this episode's main game collected how much money from the bank?
Please respond to the nearest dollar and please make sure your
answer is higher than $809.

======================================================================
(time passes)

And we're done. Got some new folks in the contestant pool. That's
always nice to see. First, let's see the right answer to this question.

(ding) The winner of the main game won $1229 from the bank. BTW, the champ found a $50,000 prize behind one of the numbers -- but found two palm trees soon thereafter for a trip to Barbados. At least it wasn't the "fun prize", which was rumored to be an out of print copy of a book based on the series "The Man From Atlantis". Now, as noted earlier, the closest to the right answer automatically becomes champ. So, who's our champ? Matt Tanga $1209 Wow, great guess, Matt. Only off by 20 bucks. Next closest picks first in Match Game. And that is... David Barkow $1250 ...David. Off by 21 bucks the other way. And the *next* closest is going to be David's challenger. Rick Morris $1205 It's Rick -- who's not related to either co-host of this show. Thanks to everyone for playing. ====================================================================== Rich Jeffries: "Joey Donates His Brain To Science" (audience laughs) will not be seen tonight. Instead, we bring you a program where the minds of celebrities and contestants are given a workout. ======================================================================

Ryan Morris
and
Doug Morris

(NMG-HSH sign rises; MG-esque doors open; Ryan and Doug are
welcomed to an ecstatic crowd, walk down the stairs, shake hands)

Doug: Thanks, Rich. Helloooooooo, everybody and welcome to
another Net Match Game - Hollywood Squares Hour. Hello, stars.

Panel: (basically in unison) Hello, Ryan and Doug.

Ryan: On the last show, we say goodbye to an undefeated champion.
You'll meet our designated champion in Hollywood Squares.

Doug: But to get there, two players are about to play Match Game.
That's the way we've done it for a decade. Might as well keep it
that way here in Year 11. Let the games begin!

(audience cheers) (Ryan and Doug shake hands) (Ryan walks over to "the Morris chair" among the panel) (Doug walks over to the Match Game players' desks) Doug: And a warm welcome please to our Match Game challengers, David Barkow and Rick Morris.

(audience cheers) Doug: We'll chat later -- but let's dive right in. The rumors you've heard are true. We'll give you up to three chances to match as many...

Doug: ...of these members of President Obama's cabinet as you
possibly can.

(light laughter from the crowd)

Doug: When you match a panelist, you get a stimulus package in
the form of CY$100. Match everyone and your total goes up to CY$1000.

The player who scores more matches after the third round wins the
game, another CY$500, and plays against our designated champion
in Hollywood Squares for tens of thousands more.

(audience cheers) (Doug presses button revealing Round 1 questions
on the toaster)
