Ryan: Dave, Does a lock washer go on the side with the 
nut or the bolt?

Dave: Where I work, there's nothing but nuts and there's
not a single lock that can bolt them in.  (light laughter
from the crowd)  It would make sense, to me anyway, to put 
it on the side where the bolt goes through.

Matthias: Not too sure about this, but I agree.
 
Ryan: A lock washer go on the side with the nut. Circle 
gets the square.
