OK, friends, time to really wrap up this episode in style. At the end
of October in 1983, a new game show debuted on NBC -- "The Match Game
- Hollywood Squares Hour". While the show lasted only 39 weeks, its
spirit lives on. Some music cues from the show can still be heard
on "The Price is Right" and, of course, NMG-HSH has been around VBS
since '98.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the show's debut, we're playing
a special CY$20,000 cyber-phone match. Our special guest star is
George Davidson -- who won more than $12,000 as a contestant on the
original series. In case you missed our interview with George,
you can check it out at...

Here's how this works. As usual, you've got to get by a qualifying
question with a numerical answer. The player closest to the right
answer, high or low, wins CY$1000.

Then, you'll play one head-to-head match question with George. If
you match George exactly, you're CY$1000 is multiplied by 20 for
CY$20,000.

Ready? Here's the question...

In April 2003, I guest hosted Net Percentages, normally hosted by
Steve Michaels. During its bonus game, I took a page from this
show's endgame and surveyed a polling group asking them to fill
in this blank: "<< BLANK >> MOUTH". What percentage of the polling
group responded "Word Of Mouth"?

(time passes)

And we're done. Time to see what percentage of Steve Michaels'
players thought "Word Of Mouth" when I kept his podium warm last
spring.

(ding)
Seventeen percent. And our winner of CY$1000 is...

Robert McBride	14%

...Robert who underestimated by 3 percentage points. Robert,
standby for your question.

(MG-HSH ticket plug cue plays during a montage of clips and still shots
from the original "Match Game - Hollywood Squares Hour" series)

Doug: (voice over) "The Match Game - Hollywood Squares Hour." A fusion
of two legendary titles in the game show genre.

Ryan: (voice over) The show had its debut on the NBC television network
20 years ago this Halloween.

Doug: (voice over) Billed as a marriage of two game shows, this marriage
ended up like 50% of all other marriages in the U.S. It didn't last.

(fade to two-shot of Ryan and Doug on camera center stage)

Ryan: Join us now in celebrating the 20th anniversary of the show's
premiere. We're celebrating with a lucky viewer's chance at a CY$20,000
cyber-phone match.

Doug: To help us in this contest, we welcome a champion from the
original series.

Ryan: Please welcome back to our show George Davidson.

(audience cheers) (George walks out and shakes hands with Ryan and
Doug)

Doug: George, welcome back to our stage. A while back, you, Ryan and I
sat here center stage talking about the original series and your
experiences as a contestant. Is there anything you'd like to add from
that original interview?

George: I would like to add that it still is my favorite game show of all
time.

Ryan: Any reason why?

George: Well, other than the fact I won on it. (audience laughs) I
always liked it because I felt it was a great concept coupled with 2
good hosts, a great theme song, and an excellent set. It really deserved
better than what it got.

Doug: Well, we certainly thank you for sharing your stories with us and
for helping us in this contest. Go ahead and take your seat please and
we'll get start.

(audience applause) (George sits in one of the MG players' desks)

Ryan: And on the cyber-phone to play for the CY$20,000 is Robert
McBride.

Robert: (on the loud speaker) Hi everyone.

Doug: Robert, welcome aboard. Here's how this works. Just for winning
the right to play in this special cyber-phone match, you don't win CY$500,
you get...

(ding)

Doug: ...CY$1000. Now, if you match George exactly on the question I'm
about to give both of you, we'll multiply the 1000 by 20 -- for the 20
years that have past since the original MG-HSH series' debut -- thus
giving you the total payout of CY$20,000. (audience cheers) But,
if you don't match him exactly, you still win the CY$1000. Ready?

Robert: Oh yes.

Doug: George, how about you?

George: Ready, Doug.

Doug: OK, George and Robert, for CY$20,000, here's the question...

________THE DRAGON
Doug: << BLANK >> The Dragon. T-H-E, The; D-R-A-G-O-N, Dragon.
<< BLANK >> The Dragon.

(MG '76 Super Match think music plays)

(ding)

Doug: OK, Robert. George has declared the CY$20,000 answer. If
you come up with the answer he thought of, the 20-grand's yours.
<< BLANK >> The Dragon.

Robert: Flashgamers are going to get a hoot for this. BEAT THE DRAGON!

(half the crowd applaud; the other half groans)

Ryan: Hmmm, mixed reaction from the audience.

Doug: Some think you have it, some you don't. George, before you
reveal your answer, since Robert mentioned FlashGames2, let's have
a polite round of applause for Dan, Chris and the gang... (audience
applause) ...because it's our understanding FG2's going dark soon.
They did a great job on the site. Now, George, as for you...

if

you

said

"Beat

The

Dragon",

George: hmm...first thing that comes to mind was the TTD dragon (a few
folks clap) but he didn't have a name...

George: ...then Puff the dragon, but no........

George: ...so I'll go back to TTD and say.....

[BEAT] the dragon

(audience applause; slot machine payoff sfx; MG-HSH win music plays)

Ryan: Congratulations, Robert. You've won CY$20,000.

(Robert and his friends and family can be heard screaming on the other
end of the line)

Doug: Uh, Robert, next time you win 20-grand, could you get a little
more excited?

 (audience laughs)

Ryan: Robert, stay on the line so we could get that check in the mail
to you.

Robert: THANK YOU!!!!

Doug: (laughs) No problem. (audience cheers) And thanks to George
for visiting our show again. Thanks to all our stars. Of course,
we never could do this without Ryan. Next time we get together, JX
is going to try to make it to the champions' special. And we might
have more surprises in store. Don't miss a thing -- or else, you're
<< BLANKED >>.

Ryan: I agree.

Doug: See you soon.

(audience applause) (credits roll)
