HS Round 2 Question 4 Ryan: Eddie, Pick a Square Eddie: Ok, I'll take Mystic Girl for the block, and ask her what's up with that sign in her square.
(audience cheers) Mystic Girl: Eddie, just for you, I'll tell you about the signs. Ryan: Go for it, Mystic One Mystic Girl: It's because of the Daytime Emmy nominations, of course. Sure, Squares got nominated for Best Game Show again, but Tom Bergeron got left off the ballot for Best Game Show Host! Not only that, but Chris Darley got shut out for Best Game Show Director! How could those voters be so blind? (audience boos) Exactly my point! Ryan: I see. And what about that other card that says "the streak will end May 17th?" Mystic Girl: Here’s a little bit of Squares trivia for you, Ryan. Did you know that no incarnation of Hollywood Squares has won the Emmy for Best Game Show since 1980? That's 22 years without a trophy now! Ryan: Wow! Mystic Girl: So I read the nomination list and saw that Squares was nominated, but thankfully Who Wants to Be a Millionaire was not. That got me thinking that Millionaire probably got shipped off to this year's primetime awards, where Survivor will most likely cream them. (applause) And furthermore, that departure opened the door for Squares. And with Whoopi leaving, this should be a good opportunity. If Whoopi wants to go out with a bang, then Squares SHOULD get it this year! (wild applause, cheering) Ryan: Mystic, Frederick Muhlenberg became the first ever man to do -- what? Mystic Girl: Well, I know he wasn't Mickey Mouse. Oh Eddie, by the way, did you know that you became a 5-time Jeopardy champion the same day that Squares contestant Fred Pinto did the same thing? Eddie: Wow, I didn't know that! Mystic Girl: But you need an answer, so I'm going to say that he was the first man to swim the English Channel. Eddie: I'll disagree. Ryan: Frederick Muhlenberg was the first man to be elected Speaker of the House of Representatives. He was elected in 1789. Circle gets the Square.
(ding; audience applause)
