QMP I: Semi-Final Game 2 Round 1
======================================================================

Rich Jeffries: "Poker Royale: Hatfields vs. McCoys" (audience laughs)
will not be seen tonight -- so that we may continue to bring you a
more civilized poker tournament.

JOHN
ANDY

Rich: This is our top seeded champion, John Menjes. So far, he has a cyber-cash total of CY$270,500. And this is our 4th seed, Andy Geller. His cyber-cash winnings total CY$126,600.

They're back to play in the semi-finals in the Quarter Million Playoff -- of the card game where high hands can bring high rewards. This is Net Poker.

(audience cheers)

Rich: And now, from the Bonus Island Resort and Casino in Tunica, Mississippi, here are our host and dealer, Doug Morris and D.J. Hamilton!

(Doug walks out wearing the tuxedo from last year's wedding; D.J. walks alongside wearing a gold sequined dress) (more cheers as audience gives them a standing ovation)

Doug: Thank you, Rich Jeffries. Helloooooooooo, everybody -- and hello Tunica!

(more cheers)

D.J.: You'll do anything for cheap applause.

(audience laughs)

Doug: How true. Welcome to the second episode in our special Net Poker mini-series featuring our first Quarter Million Playoff. Last time we got together, it was the battle of New Jersey -- where Andy Silikovitz defeated Michael Clifford to reach the championship show. Tonight, it's the battle of South Florida.

D.J.: That's right -- tonight's semi-finalists call the sunshine state home. One of them will advance to the finals to play against Andy for that huge payoff of CY$250,000.

Doug: Also in this episode, we'll resume a main game we started on the last show. Dustin Riley won the Video Poker round -- and you'll see him again on our championship show. Robert McBride and Matt Taylor are competing in this evening's elimination round of that main game. So, Deej, let the games continue!

(audience cheers) (D.J. walks over to the cards board)

Doug: John and Andy, glad to see you back. In case anyone missed the last show, here's how the semi-final QMP game works. This game consists of three rounds of 5-Card Poker. We'll play under normal 5-Card Poker rules with these major differences: we play for cyber-cash instead of points and when a new round starts, you build on your score from the previous round.

In this first round, questions are worth CY$500 each, the blind-card question is worth CY$750 and we pay CY$1250 to the player who makes the better hand.

Also in the tournament, we don't play that little side game where a winning player picks a letter in the word "POKER" for a bonus payoff.

Doug: The player with the higher cumulative score at the end of the third round wins this game and advances to the finals where he'll face Andy Silikovitz for all the marbles.

Before we started, John got to cut the cards -- because he has the top seed honors in this tournament. Let's see the first two cards of this game.

D.J.: And we start this semi-final game with the 9 of Hearts and the Ace of Clubs.

Doug: And here's the first CY$500 question in this match-up. Good luck, John and Andy...

Former Texas Senator Phil Gramm flunked the...
\ third grade
\ seventh grade
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Andy buzzes in)

Doug: Andy.

Andy: I will say... ALL of the Above

Doug: That's the right answer.

JOHN
ANDY

(audience applause)

Doug: He flunked 3rd, 7th as well as 9th grade. Andy, you've struck first on the scoreboard. Which card?

Andy: I will take the Ace of Clubs.

Doug: Obvious choice, I know...

JOHN

ANDY

Doug: ...but ya never know. More 9s may be on the way. Let's see two more cards.

D.J.: The Queen of Spades and the Jack of Spades.

Doug: And let's see how much you know about the '60s...

In the year 1966,...
\ the Yankees won the American League pennant
\ Batman makes its TV debut
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(Andy buzzes in)

Doug: Andy.

Andy: I will say..... Batman makes its TV debut

Doug: And I will say -- you've won another CY$500. (audience applause) The Yanks finished last that year. Andy, which card?

Andy: I will take the Queen of Spades

Doug: The lady in black's yours...

JOHN

ANDY

Doug: ...John gets a Jack. We continue with two more cards.

D.J.: The Ace of Hearts and the Jack of Clubs.

Doug: John, I see ya trying to buzz in there. There's still a lot of game left. Let's see if you can score on this...

"Bob Hartley" is/was the actual first and last name of...
\ Bob Newhart's character on the sitcom Bob
\ the current, as of this typing, head coach of the Atlanta Falcons
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(John buzzes in)

Doug: John.

John: None of the above.

Doug: And you're on the board.

JOHN
ANDY

(audience applause)

Doug: Bob Newhart was Bob Hartley on The Bob Newhart Show and in that memorable finale of Newhart. The other Bob Hartley coaches the Atlanta Thrashers. OK, John, which card?

John: I have to take that Ace to keep Andy from having that pair.

Doug: Very well...

JOHN

ANDY

Doug: ...Andy's still doing a little better in the hands department. Fourth pair of cards coming.

(groans from the crowd)

D.J.: I know what you're thinking, John, but you can't change your mind. The 10 of Clubs and the Jack of Hearts.

Doug: Huh-kay. Andy's trying to pad his lead. John will try to tie the game. Next question...

The Arctic Ocean is...
\ the smallest ocean
\ the shallowest ocean
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(John buzzes in)

Doug: John.

John: All of the above.

Doug: Right and you've tied the game. (audience applause) Which card would you like before the blind card question?

John: The jack, please.

Doug: And with that...

JOHN

ANDY

Doug: ...John's building on a pair of Jacks, Andy's needing a King for a straight. Last two cards for the round, please.

Doug: And let's up the ante. CY$750 for this question...

"Dog Eat Dog"/ Dog Eat Dog was the title of a...
\ combination stunt/trivia competition show hosted by Brooke Burke
\ song by Ted Nugent
\ all of the above
\ none of the above

(John buzzes in)

Doug: John.

John: All of the above.

Doug: Oh, sorry, not right. Andy, you get a chance to steal the 750.

Andy: I will say ... a song by Ted Nugent

Doug: That's the right choice.

JOHN
ANDY

(audience applause)

Doug: John, there's no easy way to say this. You fell for one of the scribes' dirty lowdown rotten tricks. Brooke *Burns* was the host of the competiton show. Andy figured it out -- and he gets to pick a card.

Andy: I will take the RIGHT card

Doug: Right card it is...

JOHN

ANDY

Doug: ...and we have everything set. Andy, let's reveal your last card first. An Ace, King, Queen or Jack would help your cause.

JOHN

ANDY

Doug: That however won't. John, you get the twelve-fifty.

JOHN
ANDY

(audience applause)

Doug: Just for the heck of it, what was John's last card?

JOHN

ANDY

Doug: Oh, a Queen. Would've been nice for Andy. (smooth jazz theme plays) Well, John, this was just Round 1 -- but it ended well for you. We'll be back for the second round in this semi-final game. Later on, we'll resume a main game we started on the last show. It's all happening here in Tunica, Mississippi at the Bonus Island Resort and Casino -- site of the Net Poker Quarter Million Playoff. We're back in a bit.

(audience cheers) (various shots of the crowd)
