Mega Playoff: Game 2 Round 2

(prize music plays)

Rich: Any player who makes a natural royal flush in the Net Poker Mega Playoff wins a trip for every season around the world.

(audience cheers)

Rich: This fabulous trip starts in the winter in picturesque Zurich, Switzerland. Then in the spring, it's off to the city of romance -- Paris France. The summer brings sunshine in the day and fiestas at night in Acapulco, Mexico. Then in the fall, a fabulous vacation to beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia. This trip of a lifetime includes a six-night stay at a luxury hotel in each city -- compliments of Club Universe. And as an extra bonus -- another CY$100,000 to spend on souvenirs.

(more cheers)

Rich: And now, back to Doug Morris and the Net Poker Mega Playoff.

Doug: Thanks, Rich. BTW, we've been talking about The New Net Poker that's starting after this tournament. One of the new things about the new game is the royal flush bonus. Make a natural royal flush in *any* round of the main game -- and the payoff is an instant CY$1,000,000.

(audience cheers)

Doug: That also applies to the bonus round -- and five of a kind only in Joker Poker is also worth a million. We'll talk about that in detail after the tourney -- but now, back to this game. Let's meet our players and see what they've been up to since they were last with us -- starting with Andy.

Andy: I became a retired champion on Net Definition, and won $1,000 on Stump The Master.

Doug: Ah, you got Ken Jennings for a grand. Sweet! Well, you only have 500 here -- better luck in this round ahead. And I should note Andy's coming back here for the Net *Definition* Mega Playoff here at the Bonus Island. Josh, how've you been since we last saw you?

Josh: Well, in December I graduated from CSUH, and proposed to my fiancee, so everything's really starting to look up for me :-)

(audience cheers)

Doug: Well, congratulations. I wish you and your bride many years of wedded bliss. You have CY$3500 in this game so far.

Time to add much more in our next round -- which involves one of my favorite categories...

INITIAL DESCRIPTIONS

Doug: ...Initial Descriptions. I'll give you the initials of a famous person and then describe that person using words that start with those initials.

Some examples from an earlier show, if I gave you the initials "W.S." and the description "Wrote Sonnets", you buzz in and say -- "William Shakespeare". The initials "P.G." and the description "Poker Guru" lead you to "Phil Gordon".

To get credit for a correct answer, you *must* identify the person based on all the initials we provide.

As in the last round, questions are worth CY$500 each -- 'til we get to the CY$750 blind card. High hand pays CY$1250.

Josh cut the cards for this round. Deej, let's see the first two cards in this round.

D.J.: And we start with...

(a few groans from the crowd)

D.J.: ...the King of Diamonds and the 10 of Diamonds.

Doug: Apparently, no one wants to go on that big trip we're offering. Anyway, first initial description coming up...

C.M.

Coldplay Musician

(Andy buzzes in)

Doug: Andy.

Andy: Chris Martin

Doug: That's the man.

ANDY
JOSH

(audience applause)

Doug: You have the choice, Andy. King or 10 of Diamonds?

Andy: King me.

Doug: Cowboy for Andy...

ANDY

JOSH

Doug: ...and Josh gets a 10 out of that exchange. We get two more cards.

D.J.: He have the 10 of Spades and the King of Hearts.

Doug: We'll either build on a pair -- or be 2/5 of the way toward a straight. Next description.

M.S.

Married Schwarzenegger

(Josh buzzes in)

Doug: Josh

Josh: Maria Shriver

Doug: Correct.

ANDY
JOSH

(audience applause)

Doug: The governator and first lady of California have been married since '86. Which card, Josh?

Josh: Take the King.

Doug: Giving each player a King-10.

ANDY

JOSH

Doug: Wonder if more Kings and 10s are on the way. Two more cards, please.

D.J.: No 10 here. The Ace of Spades and the King of Spades.

Doug: The two highest Spades at stake -- with this next description.

O.J.S.

Officially Jailed Superstar

(Josh buzzes in)

Doug: Josh.

Josh: Orenthal James Simpson.

Doug: That's the answer we needed. (audience applause) Had you said simply "O.J. Simpson", you would've, in effect, only told us what the "S." in "O.J.S." stood for -- and would've also been ruled incorrect. Josh, which card?

Josh: Take the King.

Doug: 'Nuther cowboy for the leader.

ANDY

JOSH

Doug: And Andy's 3/5 of the way toward an Ace high straight. Next two cards.

D.J.: The 9 of Hearts and the Ace of Hearts.

Doug: Obviously, the issue of a straight is now moot. Andy's trying to narrow the gap in score -- while Josh will try to pad his lead with this...

C.D.

Canadian Diva

(Andy buzzes in)

Doug: Andy.

Andy: Celine Dion

Doug: That's the one.

ANDY
JOSH

(audience applause)

Doug: We're almost at the blind card question. Which card would ya like?

Andy: Ace

Doug: Rocket for the man.

ANDY

JOSH

Doug: Andy has two Aces. Josh with two Kings. Final two cards for the round.

Doug: Now between this CY$750 question and the CY$1250 for high hand, Andy could narrow the gap in score considerably. Then again, Josh could end this round with CY$6500 -- and be only two right answers away from putting the game on ice. So this question is really important. Good luck, play carefully, here's the next description.

S.M.

Shapeshifting "Manimal"

(Andy buzzes in)

Doug: Andy.

Andy: Simon McCorkindale

Doug: That is right!

ANDY
JOSH

(audience applause)

Doug: Anyone who actually remembers "Manimal" had to have spent time in a body cast. (audience laughs) Well, Andy, CY$1250 at stake for high hand. Left or right?

Andy: Left

Doug: The left it is...

ANDY

JOSH

Doug: ...now, we'll check Josh's last card first. He'd *really* like to see another King. We had four Queens on the board last round -- so it's possible here. A 10 or 9 would also help his cause. Deej, let's see Josh's last card first.

ANDY

JOSH

Doug: A Jack won't work. Andy collects CY$1250.

ANDY
JOSH

(audience applause)

Doug: Just for the heck of it, what was the last card for Andy?

ANDY

JOSH

Doug: A Queen. (smooth jazz theme plays) Well, Andy has narrowed the gap. Final round decides the issue -- when you come back to Gulfport and the Net Poker Mega Playoff. (audience cheers)
