Mega Playoff: Game 2 Round 1======================================================================Rich Jeffries: "The Dukes of Hazzard Lose All Their Teeth" (audience laughs) will not be seen at this time -- so that we may bring you more of a tournament with a lot of bite. ======================================================================
ANDY JOSH ![]()
Rich: This is our 2nd seeded champion, Andy Silikovitz. So far, he has a cyber-cash total of CY$134,750. And this is our 3rd seed, Josh Warren. His cyber-cash winnings total CY$129,250.
They're back to play in the semi-finals of the Mega Playoff -- in the game of high hands and high rewards. This is Net Poker.

Rich: And now, from the Bonus Island Resort and Casino in Gulfport, Mississippi, here are our host and dealer, Doug Morris and D.J. Hamilton!
(Doug walks out wearing a tuxedo with black necktie; D.J. walks alongside wearing a gold sequined dress) (more cheers as audience gives them a standing ovation)
Doug: Thank you, Rich. Helllooooooooo, everybody!
D.J.: Hey, ya'll, and welcome to our second episode in this Net Poker Mega Playoff. The winner of this semi-final game will play against our top seed, Robert McBride. The winner in the championship show is guaranteed to win at least CY$1,000,000.
Doug: Deej, please head over to the cards board -- while I'll give a brief overview of the tournament rules. In a tournament game, we play three rounds of 5-Card Poker. Each round uses a different theme of questioning -- with the third round always using General Knowledge Multiple Choice.
In the tournament, we play for cyber-dollars instead of points. In this first round, each question is worth CY$500, the blind card question will be worth CY$750 with a payoff of CY$1250 to the player with the high hand. All those stakes double in the third round.
Also, when a new round starts, we don't reset the scores. The players simply build on their scores from the previous round. The player with the higher cumulative score wins the game, has that total augmented to CY$20,000 -- and then plays Deuces Wild Poker for a special jackpot prize of CY$100,000.

DOUBLE MEANINGS
Doug: To start us off in this game, we'll play Double Meanings. I'll give you two descriptions of a single word, you give me the word. For example, if I give you, "Group of fish" and "Place where students learn", you'd buzz in and say "School". Another example: "Adoration for another person" and "'Goose egg' in tennis" would lead you to "Love".
Sometimes, the answer could be a one-word proper noun -- or at least one of its meanings could lead to it being a proper noun.
Now, before the show, Andy cut the cards for this first round, since he's seeded higher. Deej, let's see some cards and get Game 2 rolling.
D.J.: All right, good luck, Andy and Josh.
(a few groans from the crowd)
D.J.: We start with the Queen of Diamonds and the 10 of Diamonds.
Doug: Some folks in the crowd already bummed a natural royal flush bonus will not be awarded in this round. We'll talk about that later. For now, here comes your first pair of descriptions.
Leader of Indian tribe
Leader of police departmentDoug: Josh.
Josh: The answer is CHIEF.
Doug: And that answer is right.
ANDY JOSH Doug: CY$500 for you -- which equates to about 20 trips to the all you can eat buffet here at the casino. (audience laughs) Which card?
Josh: I'll take the Queen
Doug: Queen for you.
ANDY
JOSH
Doug: And Andy has a 10 out of that exchange. Two more cards.
D.J.: We have the Queen of Hearts and the Queen of Spades.
Doug: Well, we know Josh will have a pair and Andy will be 2/5 of the way toward a straight. But Andy could tie the score with this...
Forest protector
New York City pro hockey playerDoug: Josh.
Josh: The answer is Ranger
Doug: That's right. (audience applause) BTW, since you're starting every response with "the answer is", are you auditioning for Alex Trebek's job when he retires? (light laughter from the crowd) Only kidding. Pick a lady.
Josh: I'll take the Spade.
Doug: Lady in black for Josh.
ANDY
JOSH
Doug: Andy makes like Juice Newton and plays with the Queen of Hearts. Next two cards.
D.J.: The 9 of Clubs and the Jack of Clubs.
Doug: OK, two clubs up for grabs. Next pair of meanings.
Civil conflict between the states in the 1860s
Card game where high card winsDoug: Josh again.
Josh: I'll say War.
Doug: And I'll say -- you're three for three. (audience applause) Andy, I see ya trying to buzz in. Josh has the hot hand so far. Which card?
Josh: Take the Jack please
Doug: Knave it shall be.
ANDY
JOSH
Doug: Andy's 3/5 of the way toward a King high straight. Two more cards, please.
D.J.: And we have the King of Hearts and the 10 of Hearts.
Doug: All right. But let's see what happens here.
Component of a paragraph
Time spent in jailDoug: Andy.
Andy: Sentence.
Doug: And he finally breaks through.
ANDY JOSH Doug: All right, we're coming up on the blind card question. Which card do you think will help you ahead of the blind cards?
Andy: The 10.
Doug: OK, going into the blind card situation...
ANDY
JOSH
Doug: ...Andy has one pair of 10s and Josh has one pair of Queens. Last two cards for the round.
Doug: And let's up the ante. CY$750 for this question.
Last name of a former U.S. agriculture secretary
ESPN awardDoug: Josh.
Josh: The answer is Espy.
Doug: Right on.
ANDY JOSH Doug: BTW, we're talking about Mike Espy on the first meaning. He has a son who plays in the NFL -- so who knows? The younger Mike Espy could win an ESPN Espy. Josh, CY$1250 hangs in the balance here. Left or right?
Josh: Take the left card.
Doug: Left card it is.
ANDY
JOSH
Doug: Andy, we'll check your last card first. A third 10 would be great for your hand. A Queen or 9 would give you two pair. Deej, let's see his last card.
ANDY
JOSH
Doug: It's a 9 for two pair. Josh, a King or Jack gives you a better two pair situation; a Queen for trips; anything else and Andy will narrow the gap in score. Deej, let's see that last card for Josh.
ANDY
JOSH
Doug: Queen of Clubs for trips. Gives you a big lead.
ANDY JOSH (audience applause) (smooth jazz theme plays)
Doug: OK, the scores after the first round -- Josh with 3500 and Andy only with 500. Andy, in the other semi-final game, one player dominated one round, the other dominated the other and we ended that game with a tie-breaker. So anything can still happen. We'll come back and play our second round of *this* semi-final -- here at Net Poker's Mega Playoff at the Bonus Island Resort and Casino in Gulfport.
