Doug: Before we go any further, Robert and Todd, thank you for an exciting start to this tournament. (audience cheers) I hate to see one of you go -- but an elimination is going to happen in the next few moments.
As I noted earlier, the first thing we do is have each of you discard one card from your hand. Robert, we start with you since you're the higher seed. Which card do you want us to send to the dumpster?
Robert: I'm definitely getting rid of my 9.
Doug: All right and Todd?
Todd: Lose the 9 please.
Doug: Man, you guys like to get rid of 9s as fast as Illinois legislators get rid of a governor. (audience laughs and applauds)

Doug: OK, with that bit of comic relief out of the way, let's get serious. D.J.'s discarded the 9s. Let's bring in the next two cards from the top of the deck face down.
