Doug: Thank you, Rich Jeffries. And hellooooooo everybody. This is Net Poker Live! -- from the grand-*RE*opening of the Bonus Island Resort and Casino in Gulfport!
Doug: We're glad to be back in Gulfport and happy to bring you a new Net Poker Live! game. Some new wrinkles we've added since we were last here. One of those wrinkles -- a chance at CY$2,000,000. (audience woos and ahhs) Let's meet the players going for the big cyber-money -- Andy Silikovitz and Jay Lewis.
(audience cheers)
ANDY JAY Doug: Andy, you've played our regular Net Poker game. But for those who haven't seen those appearances, tell us about yourself.
Andy: I'm 38, from West Orange, NJ... I'm a Torah reader in Montclair, NJ... I like crosswords and Sudoku
Doug: Oh, my wife's addicted to Sudoku. Good luck in the game. And here's a familiar face to VBS viewers, Jay Lewis. Jay, a word or two about yourself.
Jay: I'm Jay Lewis, from small-town Canada. I'm 30 and like doing puzzles of all kinds
Doug: Well, guys, you've come to the right place. Because our first round involves some puzzles. We'll get to that in a moment. But first, a nice warm Gulfport welcome to this evening's dealer. Somehow, he graduated to *pit boss* here at the Bonus Island. It's Dirty Harry.
(Harry walks out to his usual chorus of boos)
Doug: Harry, they must've missed you. Gentlemen, here's how we play Net Poker Live! Best two rounds out of three wins the game and the chance to play for CY$2,000,000.
BACK WORDS
Doug: Our first round of 5-Card Poker involves a theme we call Back Words. In Back Words, I'll give you a clue and then spell the answer one letter at a time. But, we spell it -- you guessed it -- backwards. As soon as you recognize the answer, buzz in and tell us the answer.
Each time you correctly answer a question, you win 10 points and the right to pick one of two cards for your poker hand. As always, the card you decline goes to your opponent. After you've each collected four cards, the last pair of up cards come down the chute face down and we'll play for 15 points on the blind card question. Better hand Ready Andy and Jay?
Jay: yes

Doug: Very well. Here are the first two cards...
Doug: ...and we hace the Jack of Clubs and the Ace of Spades. Here's the first clue. He kept an eye on things. S-P-O-L-C

Doug: That's right.
ANDY JAY Doug: OK, Andy, you're on the board first. Which card?
Andy: The ace please

Doug: All right, Andy with the lead and the Ace. Jay, the night is young. Here's your next clue for 10 points. Oh wait... cards first...
Doug:...got ahead of myself. (Harry sneers; light laughter from the crowd) Gimme a break, it's been awhile. We had a hurricane since we were here. Ten of Hearts and the King of Hearts up for grabs. *Now* for your next clue. They make money the old-fashioned way. S-R-E-T-N-I
INTERS Doug: Jay.
Jay: minters
Doug: That's right. (audience applause) Tie score at 10. Jay, which card?
Jay: King please
ANDY

Doug: King goes to Jay, the 10 for Andy. Let's see two more cards, please.
Doug: Well, pretty academic as to which card our players want. 9 of Clubs and the Ace of Hearts. Next clue coming. The answer is a proper name. We'll need the last name only. She's desperate. This is her last name backwards. A-I-R-O-G
GORIA Doug: Jay.
Jay: longoria
Doug: As in -- Eva Longoria -- that's right.
ANDY JAY Doug: She's my favorite cast member of "Desperate Housewives". My wife's a fan, then she told me about it, then I got hooked. Jay, which card -- as if I didn't know?
Jay: ace please

Doug: All right. Good game so far. Jay has the lead and a better hand. Two more cards from Harry.
Doug: Again, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this one out. Ace of Clubs and the Queen of Clubs. Next clue in Back Words. A vital fluid. N-O-I-S-S-I-M
MISSION Doug: Jay.
Jay: transmission
Doug: Just did beat Andy to the buzzer, that's right. (audience applause) You lead 30-to-10. Which card?
Jay: ace

Doug: OK, Jay has one pair. Andy ... I don't think you can win this round. So, I tell ya what let's do. Let's play out the blind card question and attach a CY$1000 bonus to the player who scores on this question.
Doug: Those are the blind cards. Here comes the question for 15 points and CY$1000. Last clue. Just call him "boss". Here is his last name backwards. N.
N Doug: Wow, and Andy's in there like a shot.
Andy: Springsteen
Doug: That's right.
ANDY JAY Doug: How did you get that so quickly?
Andy: I live in NJ, remember?
Doug: Ahhhh... good call. (light laughter from the crowd) You're CY$1000 richer and just for the heck of it, which card?
Andy: LEFT
Doug: The left card is what, Harry? Just flip it over without putting 'em over there, please.
Doug: Queen of Spades. That's one pair of Queens and Jay's pair of Aces are already beating your Queens. Jay officially wins this first round.
ANDY JAY (winning bells; audience applause)
Doug: Just for the heck of it, what was the other card?
Doug: King of Clubs. Jay, you ended up with two pair. Now, Jay, Harry's going to spin a European Roulette wheel. The wheel has the numbers 0 through 36 with no double zero. If the ball lands on 0, you win CY$5000. Otherwise, we multiply the number by CY$100. Harry, let's see if you can get Jay five-grand.
(Harry sneers...and spins; light laughter from the crowd)

ANDY JAY Doug: Well, a profitable round for both -- but Jay leads one round to none. Andy, you've got to win the next two rounds to win the game. We'll continue with our game and even a visit from D.J. Hamilton, believe it or not -- when Net Poker Live! continues from the grand reopening of Gulfport, Mississippi's Bonus Island Resort/Casino.
