24K Video Slot Challenge

Due to time constraints, we do not have time to play the full 24K Video Slot Challenge. So, we'll play bonus screens from a randomly determined video slot game. More details after this qualifying round.

In an effort to spread the wealth, this qualifying round is open to everyone who has not played in this episode of Net Poker. Here's the question -- which is admittedly an easier take on a previously aborted qualifying question.

On July 3, 2010, at 8:00am Central, we watched a GSN rerun of "Hollywood Squares". When time was called, the winner of this episode's main game won how much money?

(To clarify, the payoffs were $1000 for each of the first two games, the third was for $2000 with each game thereafter worth $4000. If time did not allow a game to be completed, each player won an extra $500 for each symbol (s)he had on the board in the incomplete game. So, please respond in increments of $500.)

(time passes)

All right, let's see the right answer.

QUALIFYING ANSWER
$3000

And let's see who came the closest.

Todd Davis	$4000

It's Todd David playing our truncated 24K game -- after this.

Voice guy: Jay Cross challenges you to read the nation's mind.
Net Let's Ask America -- only VBS.

======================================================================

Doug: And we're back. During the break, Todd Davis was picked to play our audience game -- an abbreviated version of the 24K Video Slot Challenge. Todd, you'll play the bonus screens from the Net Match Game - Hollywood Squares Hour video slot game.

And I should note the NMG-HSH website has two new web addresses. We've parted company with CJB.net and wish them well in their future endeavors. Meantime, you can now check out the NMG-HSH website at http://stop.to/nmghsh and http://fun.to/nmghsh -- check it all out.

Now, the NMG-HSH video slot game has two bonus screens -- and we'll play them both. Each bonus screen is worth up to CY$10,000 -- and you win CY$10,000 from *both* screens, we'll throw in an extra CY$4000 for the grand total of CY$24,000.

(audience cheers)

Doug: Now you first bonus screen comes from the Match Game side of NMG-HSH ...

Doug: ...it's a little something we call, appropriately, Match The Stars. Todd, hidden behind the numbers are stars. We have two CY$1000 stars, two CY$2000 stars, one CY$10,000 star and a wild star.

In a moment, you'll pick two numbers -- and if the amounts match, you win that amount. Now if you find the wild star, you can match it automatically with anything else -- would that you match with the big CY$10,000 star.

So, let's have your two picks at once, please.

Todd: I'll take two and six please.

Doug: All right, let's reveal number 2 first, please.

(ding) (scattered cheers and "woos")

Doug: Hey now! You found CY$10,000. Number 6 has to hide the wild star in order to win that ten grand. Is it there?

(buzz) (audience groans)

Doug: No -- sorry. CY$1000. Where was the wild?

(FF reveal sfx)

Doug: Right next door to the ten large -- number three. Well, 24K is not in the future. But you will go home with something as we bring up our next bonus screen from the NMG-HSH video slot game.

(FF reveal sfx)

Doug: This is obviously from the Hollywood Squares side -- and it's a bonus screen called Secret Square. One of these nine numbered squares is the secret square worth CY$10,000. The others are worth CY$1000 each. Find the secret square and you pocket ten grand. Anything else is worth a grand.

Todd: 4 please.

Doug: Is #4 the secret square?

(ding) (scattered applause)

Doug: No -- but you got CY$1000. You'll have fun with that. Where was the secret square?

(ding)

Doug: One number less -- 3. Todd, congratulations on being our latest thousandaire. We are out of time, friends. 'Til next time, make it a great day, keep the faith and treasure your loved ones.

(smooth jazz theme plays; audience applause; credits roll)
