24K Video Slot Challenge

All right, time to wrap up another Net Poker show with the 24K Video Slot Challenge. The player who comes the closest to the right answer, high or low, get to play. In an effort to spread the wealth, we respectfully ask the main game players to sit this one out.

On June 19th, 2011, at 10:30am Central, we watched a GSN rerun of "Catch 21". After two rounds, how many points were scored by the three contestants? Please respond higher than 1000 points and in hundreds of points

(time passes)

And that's time. Player 1 had 700 points, Player 2 scored 1000 points and Player 3 got the boot after only scoring 200 points. That's a total of 1900 points. The closest is...

Eddie Timanus 1600

...Eddie. Thanks to all for playing.

Doug: Welcome back to Net Poker. Gonna wrap up our first episode in the 10th anniversary celebration with our 24K Video Slot Challenge. Eddie Timanus won the right to play this. Eddie, we spot you...

(ding)

Doug ...CY$1500. Now you get to pick a number from 1 to 6 inclusive -- to determine which video slot game you get to play. Which number would you like?

Eddie: OK, let's go with 3.

Doug: Behind #3, we find..

(ding)

Doug: ...Power Play. Our hockey-themed game. Well, you're a sports writer. This should be up your alley. Let's load it up, please, fellers.

ANY THREE SYMBOLS=CY$1000

ANY PAIR OF SYMBOLS=CY$1500

SAME THREE SYMBOLS=CY$3500

"+/-" = TRIGGERS BONUS

(FF reveal sfx)

Doug: Eddie, in all three reels of the game, we have images of hockey masks, hockey players and the ever popular Zamboni.

If you spin three different symbols, you win an extra CY$1000; a pair of a particular symbol pays CY$1500; three of the same pay CY$3500.

We also have a "plus/minus" bonus symbol in the third reel. I'll tell you more about that if you hit it.

If you can build you up your score to at least CY$10,000, you win the CY$24,000 bonus. However, every spin comes with a risk.

If you run into a "bad luck" symbol in the third reel, there's no payoff, you get a strike *and* you have to spin again. If you run into an outlaw in the third reel, that's an automatic three strikes. As in some other sport, you're out after the third strike -- and you lose everything in the video slot game.

So, after every successful spin, I'll give you a chance to stop. You may stop right now and take the CY$1500 -- or risk it all and spin.

(audience shouts suggestions)

Eddie: Definitely came to play. Let's roll'em!

Doug: All right. Just press that buzzer to give 'em a spin.

(Eddie presses buzzer to activate video slot machine)

ANY THREE SYMBOLS=CY$1000

ANY PAIR OF SYMBOLS=CY$1500

SAME THREE SYMBOLS=CY$3500

"+/-" = TRIGGERS BONUS

(strike buzzer) (audience groans)

Doug: Ah man -- a mask, a zamboni and bad luck came up in that order. Bad luck means a strike and you have to spin again.

(Eddie presses buzzer to activate video slot machine)

ANY THREE SYMBOLS=CY$1000

ANY PAIR OF SYMBOLS=CY$1500

SAME THREE SYMBOLS=CY$3500

"+/-" = TRIGGERS BONUS

(audience applause)

Doug: All right -- that's better. Mask, zamboni and player. Three different symbols pay CY$1000. You're up to CY$2500. Spin again or stop?

(audience shouts suggestions)

Eddie: Hope that's all the bad luck. Let's keep going!

(Eddie presses buzzer to activate video slot machine)

ANY THREE SYMBOLS=CY$1000

ANY PAIR OF SYMBOLS=CY$1500

SAME THREE SYMBOLS=CY$3500

"+/-" = TRIGGERS BONUS

(outlaw says "YEEEEE-hawwww!") (audience groans)

Doug: Oh, dear. A hockey player, another hockey player and an outlaw. Almost sounds like the setup to a cruel joke.

Unfortunately, the outlaw got the last laugh and you struck out.

Eddie, thanks for playing. For you, we have the White's Metal Detector we spoke about earlier. We're out of time, friends. Until next time, make it a great day, keep the faith and treasure your loved ones.

(credits roll; audience applauds)
