Joker Poker

(smooth jazz theme plays)

Scarlett: Time for our championship round of Joker Poker between Robert and John. Back to Doug Morris and Net Poker.

(audience cheers)

Doug: I thank you Scarlett. Let's take a moment to explain what's at stake for our players.

ROBERT
JOHN

Doug: If John wins this round, he wins the game and becomes champion. He'll then play for a bonus of CY$25,000 and the Joker's Bonus of CY$10,000 before going on to play Deuces Wild Poker for the Outlaw's Jackpot of CY$55,000.

If Robert wins this round, he'll win his fourth straight game and *automatically* win the aforementioned bonuses and jackpot which are worth a combined CY$90,000 -- *plus* he'll play for the CY$1,000,000 mega payoff in Deuces Wild.

(audience cheers)

Doug: Players, you know how this round works. We have two jokers in the deck. Draw a joker and you may use it for anything when your five-card hand's complete. Tonight's theme for this all important round is...

WHAT'S MISSING?

Doug: ...What's Missing? I'll give you a list of items that fit a certain subject. What you have to do is supply the missing item.

Since Robert won the first round, he cut the deck for this round. Let's see the first two cards, please.

D.J.: All right, good luck, gentlemen.

D.J.: We start with the Ace of Diamonds and the King of Clubs.

Doug: All right, here's the first question.

D.J. Hamilton and Scarlett Gray are big fans of the television series "NCIS". I'll list three of the four words represented by the initials NCIS -- and you tell me what's missing.

NAVAL
CRIMINAL
SERVICE

(John buzzes in)

Doug: John.

John: Investigative.

Doug: That's right.

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: And what an action-packed show. John, which card?

John: The Ace, please.

Doug: Rocket goes to the challenger...

ROBERT

JOHN

Doug: ...cowboy for the champ. Let's see two more cards.

(a few claps and woos)

D.J.: The Queen of Diamonds and the 10 of Spades.

Doug: Bonus for the natural royal flush is possible in this round -- hence the reax from the crowd. Next question -- and I'm seeing a theme in the theme.

As Deej and Scarlett will tell you, before there was "NCIS" or even "NCIS: Los Angeles", there was "JAG". I'll list two of the three words represented by the initials JAG -- and you tell me what's missing.

JUDGE
GENERAL

(John buzzes in)

Doug: John again.

John: Advocate.

Doug: And that's right again.

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: John, with the early 20 to nothing lead, which card?

John: The queen, please.

Doug: Going with the lady.

ROBERT

JOHN

Doug: Robert gets the 10. John wants to see more natural Diamonds. Robert, perhaps would like to see a King up for grabs. Next cards, please.

(scattered cheers; a few groans)

D.J.: The Jack of Spades and the Joker.

Doug: Well, the bonus for *natural* royal flush is out of play. Nevertheless, this should be a crucial question.

LL Cool J has made a name for himself in the world's of rap and television -- especially "NCIS: Los Angeles". I'll list two of the three words represented by the initials in his stage name -- and you tell me what's missing.

LADIES
LOVE

(Robert buzzes in)

Doug: Robert.

Robert: James.

Doug: And the ladies on this show love cool James. You're right.

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: As for me, I heart Cote de Pablo and Daniela Ruah. Robert, you're down by 10 points. Which card?

Robert: I need that Joker badly.

Doug: And that Joker's now yours.

ROBERT

JOHN

Doug: Champ now with, right now, a pair of Kings. John with Ace-Queen-Jack.

D.J.: The King of Diamonds and the 9 of Clubs.

Doug: Plot thickens with this next question.

On the TV series "NCIS", the agency has been lead by three different directors. I'll list two of them -- and you tell me who's missing.

THOMAS MORROW

JENNY SHEPARD

(Robert buzzes in)

Doug: Robert again.

Robert: Leon Vance.

Doug: The current director. That's right.

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: Robert, we're tied at 20. Which card?

Robert: King me.

Doug: And with that...

ROBERT

JOHN

Doug: ...the matter of who's going to get 25 points for high hand is already decided. Robert, at worst, has three Kings. John, the best you can do is a pair.

We'll go through the formalities and bring on the next two cards face down.

Doug: We'll still play for 15 points on this question.

We don't have the time to list all of Gibbs' rules on "NCIS". So we'll just focus on Rule #38 -- which can be summed up in four words. We'll list the first three words of the rule -- and you come up with the missing fourth word.

"YOUR
CASE,
YOUR
..."

(John buzzes in)

Doug: John.

John: Lead.

Doug: That's it for 15 more.

ROBERT
JOHN

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: It's academic until the Poker Run -- but pick a card, please.

John: Right card, please.
