While we were away, we helped Greg "Greggo" Wicker with the anime-themed game shows he hosted at the fifth annual San Japan convention in San Antonio, Texas. One of those games was Anime Press Your Luck. After the main game, we played two audience games -- with three players player spotted five spins each. After taking a spin, a player had the option of spinning again or stopping (as opposed to passing remaining spins to the leading opponent). When the second audience game ended, the winning player finished with what score? Please respond to the nearest yen.

And we're done. The first audience game of APYL resulted in a winning score of ¥6400. And just about everyone guessed around the neighborhood of ¥6400 in this qualifying round. Well, you're in for a surprise.

Doug: Deo, we have various amounts of cyber-money in the first two reels -- and multipliers and bullseyes in the third reel.
If a multiplier appears in the third reel, we'll mutliply the sum of the first two amounts by that number in the third reel -- and add it all to your score.
If you hit a bullseye in the third reel, you still get the cyber-money total in the first two reels -- plus a letter in the word "BONUS". If you collect all five letters in "BONUS", you win a bonus of CY$10,000.
Doug: However, we also have bad luck and an outlaw in the third reel. If you run into bad luck, you get a strike and no payoff -- *plus* you must spin again. If you spin an outlaw, it's an automatic three strikes. Once you get that third strike, the game's over and you lose all the cyber-money you've accrued -- including the CY$1500 we spotted you.
On the flip side, if you run your score up to at least CY$10,000, you win the bonus of CY$24,000.
Doug: So, you could take CY$1500 and scram if you'd like -- or gamble it all away on the next spin.
