Joker Poker

(smooth jazz theme plays)

Scarlett: The championship's on the line. Robert and Brian play Joker Poker where one of them could win CY$25,000 -- plus the Joker's Bonus worth another CY$25,000. Back to Doug Morris and Net Poker.

Scarlett: Back to Doug Morris and Net Poker.

(audience cheers)

Doug: I thank you Scarlett. Well, let's recap what's happened tonight.

ROBERT
BRIAN

Doug: Brian managed to draw four Aces in Video Poker -- which gave him a quick win in the first Poker Run. Robert scored all 80 points available before the second Poker Run. So this round should be a dandy.

THE NUMBERS GAME

Doug: In the Joker Poker round, we're playing The Numbers Game. I'll give you a statement that starts with a number and continues with a series of initials and small words. You must buzz in and repeat the statement -- while telling me what words are represented by the initials.

For example, if I gave you 50 S in the U S, you'd chime in and say, "50 States in the United States".

This round works just like 5-Card Poker -- but since it's Joker Poker, we have two Jokers in the deck. If you have a Joker in your hand, you may use it for anything when your hand's complete.

Brian cut the cards during the break since he won the first round. Let's see those first two cards from the top of the deck, please.

D.J.: The 9 of Hearts and the Queen of Spades.

Doug: All right players, best of luck. Here comes your first statement.

13 I in a B D

(Robert buzzes in)

Doug: Robert.

Robert: 13 Items in a Baker's Dozen.

Doug: Right you are.

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: First choice of card in the championship round goes to you, Robert. Which one?

Robert: Queen.

Doug: Lady in black goes to you.

ROBERT

BRIAN

Doug: Brian gets the 9. Two more cards, please.

D.J.: The Ace of Hearts and the 9 of Clubs.

Doug: Well -- interesting selection. We'll see which card goes where -- after this next statement.

7 Y of B L for B a M

(Robert buzzes in)

Doug: Robert again.

Robert: Seven years of bad luck for breaking a mirror.

Doug: That's it.

ROBERT
BRIAN

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: But in a leap year, it's 28, right? (light laughter from the crowd) Which card, champ?

Robert: I'll try the 9.

Doug: Depriving Brian of the pair.

ROBERT

BRIAN

Doug: Well, if anything, Brian, you're on a flush draw. Two more cards, please.

(scattered woos and cheers)

D.J.: The Joker and the 9 of Diamonds.

Doug: Well, someone's getting a natural pair of nines. But who's getting the wild card? We'll find out after this next statement.

101 W to L a G S with J S

(Robert buzzes in)

Doug: Robert again.

Robert: "101 Ways to Leave a Game Show" with Jeff Sutphen!

Doug: Could you get a little more excited? (light laughter from the crowd) That's it.

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: Robert is working on another shutout with 30 points. Which card?

Robert: Gotta have that Joker, please.

Doug: Since you said "please", OK.

ROBERT

BRIAN

Doug: Brian, we still have another Joker somewhere in the deck. An Ace would certainly help you. Two more cards, please.

D.J.: The Ace of Clubs and the Jack of Spades.

Doug: All right. Robert looking for a bigger lead. Brian's looking to get on the board. Next statement.

6080 F in a N M

(Robert buzzes in)

Doug: Robert.

Robert: 6080 Facades in a New Moon?

(light laughter from the crowd) (buzz)

Doug: Um -- no -- but creative guess. The correct answer we were looking for -- 6080 feet in a nautical mile. And Brian gets the points by default.

ROBERT
BRIAN

(ding)

Doug: And you may pick a card.

Brian: I've got to have that Ace.

Doug: Gives you two pair going into the blind card statement.

ROBERT

BRIAN

Doug: Robert's got the makings of a King high straight. Last two cards, please.

Doug: Let's up the ante and play for 15 points -- with this statement.

3 F U S P with the F N of G

(time passes)

Doug: No ideas? (buzz buzz) The correct answer -- 3 former United States Presidents with the first name of George. No problem. The blind cards remain in place. Next statement.

2 P for a S in the N F L

(Robert buzzes in)

Doug: Robert.

Robert: Two Points for a Safety in the NFL.

(buzz)

Doug: Incorrect -- and I'll explain why. Remember, in The Numbers Game, you must buzz in and repeat the statement -- while telling me what words are represented by the initials. P for Points and S for Safety are right -- but we needed you to finish the statement by saying National Football League instead of NFL.

Sorry, Robert, but those are the rules. Brian gets 15 points. (ding) And which card?

Brian: I'll take the left card.

ROBERT

BRIAN

Doug: All right, the cards are in place. Let's see who wins the 25 points. Let's check Robert's last card first. Robert, you don't want Deej to flip over an Ace. Deej, flip it over, please.

ROBERT

BRIAN

(scattered applause)

Doug: And that's a 10. We'll make the Joker a King for a straight. Brian, an Ace, 9 or the other Joker gives you the 25 points. Deej, flip it over, please.
