TIME MACHINE
1987![]()
Doug: We're playing Time Machine and the target year tonight is 1987. In a moment, I'll give you a headline from the past. You have to chime in and tell me if the event referenced in the headline happened before, during or after 1987.
A right answer is worth 10 points and the right to pick one of two cards for your poker hand. A wrong answer means the points and control of the cards go to your opponent.
After you each have four cards, we play a 15-point blind card headline. Then we award 25 points to the player with the better hand. We then race to 100 points in another Poker Run.
Raymond, since you finished in second place in the last Poker Run, you cut the cards for this round. And here they come down the chute.
D.J.: And we start with the Queen of Clubs and the Ace of Diamonds.
Doug: Lady and a bullet going with this headline. Tell me if this happened before, during or after 1987.
Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson tie the knot.
Doug: Raymond.
Raymond: After.
Doug: No, they got married one year before '87. Their wedding took place in 1986. Robert the points go to you... (ding) ...as well as the choice of card.
Robert: Ace.
Doug: Rocket for you...

Doug: OK, a note with the next headline. Two events are referenced in the headline. But they both happened in the same calendar year. Still, your choices are before 1987, during 1987 or after 1987. With that, here's the headline.
"The Arsenio Hall Show" and "The Pat Sajak Show" debut.
Doug: Robert.
Robert: That's gotta be after.
Doug: Both shows debuted within the first several days of 1989. You're up to 30 points.
Doug: Which card, Robert?
Robert: Jack.
Doug: Keeping your straight draw alive.
