5-Card Poker

(smooth jazz theme plays)

Scarlett: The winner of tonight's game plays for the Outlaw's Jackpot currently worth CY$85,000.

(audience cheers)

Scarlett: And now, Kevin and Michael try to stay in the game in 5-Card Poker. Back to Doug Morris and Net Poker.

Doug: Thanks a bunch, Scarlett. Indeed it's time for 5-Card Poker -- and one of my personal favorite themes of questioning here on the show.

INITIAL
DESCRIPTIONS

Doug: Initial Descriptions. Players, I'll give you the initials of a famous person -- and then describe that person with words that begin with those initial letters.

An example from an earlier game: If I gave you the initials C.B. and the description Cinematic Batman, you'd chime in and respond Christian Bale.

KEVIN
MICHAEL

Doug: The scores have been reset to zero. Each description is worth 10 points and the right to pick one of two cards for your poker hand. As always, the card you decline goes to your opponent.

After you each collect four cards, we go to a 15-point blind card description. High hand is worth 25 points. Then we race to 100 points in another Poker Run.

Michael, since you finished second in the last Poker Run, you cut the cards for this round. Let's see the first two cards for this round.

D.J.: And we start with the Queen of Clubs and the 10 of Hearts.

M.R.

Massachusetts Republican

(Michael buzzes in)

Doug: Michael.

Michael: Mitt Romney.

Doug: That's it.

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: First points of the round go to you, Michael, as well as the first choice of card.

Michael: I will take the Queen.

Doug: Lady for Michael.

KEVIN

MICHAEL

Doug: Champ gets the 10 out of that exchange. Two more cards, please.

D.J.: The King of Clubs and the 9 of Clubs.

Doug: Mmmkay -- that bonus of CY$1,000,000 for a natural royal flush still applies. With that said, here's your next description.

M.D.

Massachusetts Democrat

(Michael buzzes in)

Doug: Michael.

Michael: Michael Dukakis.

Doug: One of former Governor Romney's predecessors. That's right. (ding; audience applause) And they say Fox News is fair and balanced. (audience laughs) Michael, you're up 20 to nothing. Which card?

Michael: I will go with the King.

Doug: Keeping the drive alive for the million.

KEVIN

MICHAEL

Doug: The 9 goes to Kevin. Two more cards, por favor.

(scattered cheers)

D.J.: The 10 of Clubs and the 9 of Spades.

Doug: OK. Getting interesting. You're both back in it with this next description.

T.H.

Television Housewife

(Kevin buzzes in)

Doug: Kevin.

Kevin: Teri Hatcher.

Doug: Although not for much longer, that's right. (ding; audience applause) "Desperate Housewives" calling it a series after this season's over. Kevin, you're on the scoreboard. Which card?

Kevin: 10 of Clubs. Gotta break up his Royal Flush.

Doug: Somehow I'm not surprised.

KEVIN

MICHAEL

Doug: You get a pair out of that. Michael still on a straight draw. We get two more cards.

(a few mixed reactions from the crowd)

D.J.: The 10 of Diamonds and the Jack of Diamonds.

Doug: Well, Michael, the royal attempt would've been broken up sooner or later. All right, we move on to the next description.

D.C.

"Defiance" Celebrity

(Michael buzzes in)

Doug: Michael.

Michael: Daniel Craig.

Doug: He starred in the movie "Defiance". That's right. (ding; audience applause) Michael, you're leading 30 to 10 ahead of the blind card question. Which card would you like?

Michael: I can't let Kevin have trips, so I'll take the 10.

Doug: The 10's going to you...

KEVIN

MICHAEL

Doug: ...Kevin gets the Jack out of that exchange. Next two cards for the round come face down.

Doug: Each question from now until the end of the round is worth at least 15 points. This question here is worth exactly 15. Here's the next initial description.

H.W.

Heisman Winner

(Michael buzzes in)

Doug: Michael.

Michael: Herschel Walker.

Doug: Just beating the champ to the buzzer. You're right. (ding; audience applause) Herschel Walker won the Heisman Trophy back in 1982. Michael, a straight will give you a commanding lead in the round. A better pair could help. Which card?

Michael: Be good to me, left card!

Doug: We're about to see if that left card's good.

KEVIN

MICHAEL

Doug: All right, the cards are in place. Let's see who picks up 25 important points ahead of the Poker Run. Kevin, we start with you. You've got a pair of 10s for sure. Anything else? Please show us Kevin's last card, D.J.

KEVIN

MICHAEL

(scattered cheers)

Doug: It's another 9. Two pair. Michael, your only hope is a Jack to complete the straight. Kevin's already got one. Do you have another? Deej, please show us Michael's last card.
