Deuces Wild Poker

Doug: Kevin Kolsen is our new champion with more than 17-grand in his pocket. He's playing for CY$75,000 right now in Deuces Wild.

Kevin, since this is your first visit to our bonus round, let me explain how this works.

Doug: Behind these numbers we have randomly hidden ten outlaw cards. There's one outlaw in the top row, two outlaws in the second, three outlaws in the third and four in the bottom row.

In a moment, you'll choose a number from each row. Each time you avoid an outlaw, you win a Deuce for your poker hand. As the name of the game implies, Deuces are wild -- and you may use them for anything when your hand is complete.

The more Deuces you win, the better the odds of making a royal flush for CY$20,000. However, if you manage to avoid all the outlaws and win four Deuces, we forget all about making a poker hand and, instead, award you everything in the Outlaw's Jackpot -- presently worth CY$75,000.

(audience cheers)

Doug: Best of luck. We're all with you know. Let's start at the top row and play for the Deuce of Spades.

Kevin: 3, please.

Doug: Number 3. Good start?

(dings; audience applause)

Doug: I'd say so.

Doug: D.J. just dealt the Deuce you won from that row. Now let's play for the Deuce of Hearts. Two outlaws to avoid on the second row.

Kevin: 11, please.

Doug: Number 11, he'd like. Will he like what's behind 11?

(outlaw says "YEEEEE-hawwww!") (audience groans)

Doug: I'll take that as a no. Well, at least 80-grand to look forward to next time. Third row now. Three outlaws to avoid. Let's try to win the Deuce of Clubs.

Kevin: 14, please.

Doug: Going with 14. Let's get a Deuce here.

(dings; audience applause)

Doug: And we do.

Doug: OK, one more Deuce to win. It's always the hardest to win since there are four outlaws. Let's avoid 'em and win that Deuce of Diamonds.

Kevin: 22, please.

Doug: Do we find a Deuce behind Double Deuce?

(outlaw says "YEEEEE-hawwww!") (audience groans)

Doug: No, we find him instead. Where were the other eight outlaws?

(FF reveal sfx)

Doug: Most of them were confined to the right half of the board. Well, let's think about making a hand worth 20-grand. First two cards from the top of the deck, please.

Doug: Kevin, as you know, during the break, we had you cut a deck of cards in case you ran into at least one outlaw. The first two cards from that deck just came down the chute -- and they will always be face down to start.

You'll the left or right card, we'll then turn it face up and add it to your hand. The card you decline will then be discarded immediately. We'll repeat the process two more times.

Doug: By then, you'll have two wild cards and three natural cards. We hope those natural cards are higher than a 9 and of the same suit for CY$20,000.

(audience cheers)

Doug: So would you like the left or right card to start?

Kevin: Give me the right card, please.

Doug: All right. Deej, I hope we're starting him off with a high card.

(scattered groans from the crowd)

D.J.: Oh no. It's a 9.

Doug: Rats. No royal flush already.

Doug: Well, two more 9s will score CY$10,000. Let's think about that as we bring on the next two cards.

Doug: There they are. Left or right?

Kevin: Right again.

Doug: The right card. Another 9?

(more groans)

D.J.: Ace of Spades.

Doug: Ouch. No pair, no straight draw, no flush draw.

Doug: Well, best you can hope for is another Ace or 9 for CY$2000 and quads. Otherwise, it's going to be CY$500 for trips. Last two cards of the game, please.

Doug: There they are. which card would you like?

Kevin: Right again.

Doug: Going with the right again. If it's an Ace or 9, you win CY$2000. Otherwise it's CY$500. Let's see an Ace or 9, Deej.

(audience groans)

D.J.: Sorry, it's a Jack of Diamonds.

Doug: Ouch. I'm so sorry. Well, we'll pretend those Deuces are Aces.

Doug: That's makes it three of a kind for CY$500. Look at this way; you won more here than with the payoff card earlier.

Let's crunch the numbers for one win and tell you...

Doug: ...you are CY$18,450 to the good.

(audience cheers) (smooth jazz theme plays)

Doug: If you win the next regular game, you'll play for a Joker's bonus of CY$15,000. You ran into two outlaws; at CY$5000 each, that means we add CY$10,000 to the Outlaw's Jackpot -- now worth CY$85,000.

Doug: Friends, we're out of time. 'Til next time, make it a great day, keep the faith and treasure your loved ones.

(audience applauds)
