5-Card Poker

Doug: We'll resume our 50th episode in a just a moment. As you know, if any contestant wins four games in a row, he or she wins something rather spiffy. Scarlett, what exactly would that be?

(new car music plays)

Scarlett: For your driving enjoyment, it's -- A BRAND NEW CAR!!!!

(audience cheers)

Scarlett: The Jaguar XJL sedan comes with a 5-liter V8 engine, plus four zone automatic climate control with air filtration and much, much more.

Scarlett: We're also adding this CY$10,000 gas card -- furnished by CDM Enterprises, a division of Trax Productions -- to make this prize package worth CY$90,150.

(audience cheers)

Doug: Thank you, Scarlett. Of course, the winner of all that then plays for a bonus of CY$1,000,000 plus the Outlaw's Jackpot in Deuces Wild. Andy Silikovitz is eligible for all that if he wins Joker Poker.

Todd, Eddie, you want to win this round -- to have a chance to stop Andy's winning ways, become champion yourself -- and perhaps start your own winning streak toward the car, gas card and much more.

Time to go head's up in 5-Card Poker.

DOUBLE
MEANINGS

Doug: And our theme in 5-Card Poker is Double Meanings. I'll give you two meanings of one word -- and you tell me the word.

For example, if I gave you "Distribution of playing cards" and "Completion of business transaction", you chime in and respond -- "Deal".

D.J.: Hitting a button and saying "Deal". Reminds me of Dean's show.

(light laughter from the crowd)

Doug: Dean, if you're watching, if you decide to bring back Net Deal or No Deal -- (points to D.J.) -- at least one briefcast babe's available.

(more laughter from the crowd)

Doug: Each time you buzz in and answer correctly, you earn 10 points and a choice of up card for your hand. The card you decline goes to your opponent.

After you each have four cards, we play one more pair of meanings for 15 points with the blind cards face down. High hand for 25.

Eddie cut the cards during the break -- and D.J. gets us started with -- what?

D.J.: The 10 of Clubs and the Queen of Spades.

Doug: All right, here comes your first pair of meanings.

Residential apartment
Soda sans fizz

(Eddie buzzes in)

Doug: Eddie.

Eddie: Flat.

Doug: That's right.

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: Also something you don't want in the final lap of a NASCAR race. Eddie, which card?

Eddie: I'll go with the lady, please.

Doug: Queen for Eddie...

EDDIE

Doug: ...and Todd gets the 10 out of that exchange. More cards, please.

(a few woos from the crowd)

D.J.: Woo, indeed, the Jack of Clubs and the Jack of Spades.

Doug: I guess now's a good time to note the CY$1,000,000 for a natural royal flush is in play for this round. With that, next meanings.

Bite-sized piece of chicken
Denver NBA player

(Eddie buzzes in)

Doug: Eddie.

Eddie: Nugget.

Doug: That's it.

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: Eddie, you lead 20-0. Which Jack?

Eddie: I'll take the spade.

Doug: And with that, both players are on a royal flush draw.

TODD

EDDIE

Doug: Eddie with Queen-Jack of Spades and Todd with Jack-10 of Clubs. Two more cards, please.

(a few groans from the crowd)

D.J.: The Ace of Hearts and the Ace of Diamonds.

Doug: Great high cards -- but of the red suits. Million bonus out of play obviously. Next two meanings of one word.

Three-letter word for an animal doctor
Three-letter word for a military member who fought in war

(Eddie buzzes in)

Doug: Eddie.

Eddie: Vet.

Doug: That's it.

EDDIE

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: Todd, I see ya hitting the buzzer. Eddie's just been faster on the draw there. Which Ace, Eddie?

Eddie: Heh. Well, I guess I'll take the diamond.

Doug: Yeah, I know.

TODD

EDDIE

Doug: Not like you have a choice of the lesser of two evils. Two more cards, please.

D.J.: The Queen of Hearts and the 9 of Diamonds.

Doug: Well, this could get interesting. Next meanings.

Sister network of Cartoon Network
Curved Australian throwing stick

(Eddie buzzes in)

Doug: Eddie.

Eddie: Boomerang.

Doug: Got it.

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: Eddie, if this were tennis, you'd be leading 40-love. Which card?

Eddie: Easy choice this time -- I'll take a second queen.

Doug: And with that...

TODD

EDDIE

Doug: ...Eddie, indeed, has two Queens with an Ace and a Jack. Todd has no pair going into the next question -- Ace, Jack, 10, 9.

There are still a lot more points available as we bring in the next two cards for the round face down.

Doug: Time for the blind card question. This is worth 15 points and then the high hand is worth 25 points. Todd, if you score on this question and one of these cards is an Ace, you've got a fighting chance to tie the score.

Here come the next two meanings.

Liquid in thermometer
Planet closest to sun

(Todd buzzes in)

Doug: Todd.

Todd: Mercury.

Doug: And you finally make it on the scoreboard.

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: We now have 15 serving 40 -- or at least 15 choosing the left or right card. Which one, Todd?

Todd: Left.

Doug: Left card it shall be then.

TODD

EDDIE

Doug: Making the right card for Eddie. Plain and simple, Todd's last card must be an Ace to have a chance to tie the score. Deej, let's see Todd's last card, please.
