Joker Poker

(smooth jazz theme plays)

Scarlett: The championship's on the line. Andy and Dom play Joker Poker where one of them could win CY$25,000 -- plus a side pot worth CY$45,000. Back to Doug Morris and Net Poker.

(audience cheers)

Doug: Thanks, Scarlett. Wow. CY$70,000 could be won in this round alone -- and then another 50-grand could be won in the bonus round of Deuces Wild Poker.

ANDY
DOM

Doug: Andy and Dom made it here by winning a round and CY$2000 in the process. One of you will win this round and the championship -- and regardless of who wins, I *really* hope you win 70-grand here and 50-large later.

Before we can start awarding big payoffs, we have to play Joker Poker and our theme is...

INITIAL DESCRIPTIONS

Doug: ...one of my favorites -- Initial Descriptions. I'll give you the initials of a famous person -- and then describe that person using words that start with the person's initials.

For example, if I gave you the initials D.T. and the description of Dealmaking Tycoon, you'd chime in and respond Donald Trump.

Much like 5-Card Poker, each set of initials is worth 10 points and the choice of card. After we've played four sets of initials, we go to the 15-card blind card question. High hand is worth 25 points.

Because this is Joker Poker, we have two Jokers in the deck. If you manage to get a Joker in your hand, you may use it for anything when your hand's complete.

For this round only, if you make a natural royal flush or five of a kind, you win CY$1,000,000.

(audience cheers)

Doug: Andy cut the cards since he won the first round. Let's see the first two cards from the top of the deck.

(more cheers)

D.J.: Wow, great start. The Ace of Hearts and the Joker.

Doug: Wow indeed. Andy, you sure know how to cut 'em. One more thing -- you *must* identify the person's name based on the initials we provide. If you give me just a last name, I have to call you wrong.

Here comes your first question.

J.G.

"Jeopardy!" Gentleman

(Andy buzzes in)

Doug: Andy.

Andy: Who is Johnny Gilbert?

(light laughter from the crowd)

Doug: The answer is: He holds the record for most amount of introductions of a software engineer from Utah. (audience laughs) Yup, that's Johnny Gilbert alright.

(dings; audience applause)

Doug: First points of the round go to you -- as well as the first choice of card.

Andy: Joker.

Doug: Taking the wild card.

ANDY

DOM

Doug: Dom, you get the Ace out of that exchange -- which certainly isn't bad. Next two cards.

(a few woos from the crowd)

D.J.: Yeah, two cowboys. The King of Hearts and the King of Spades.

Doug: Huh kay. Early interesting situation in the round. Next initials.

D.M.

Doctor Mallard

Doug: Andy again.

Andy: David McCallum.

Doug: Right again.

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: David McCallum plays Dr. Mallard on "NCIS". Andy, which card?

Andy: King of Hearts.

(a few groans)

Doug: Why not rip Dom's heart out in the process?

ANDY

DOM

Doug: Well, Dom's out of contention for the million. Andy could still win the million if he collects the other Kings and Joker in the deck. Next cards.

(more groans)

D.J.: The Jack of Hearts and the Jack of Diamonds.

Doug: Now no one can win a million in this round. Moving forward with the next set of initials.

A.M.

Announced Miracle

(Andy buzzes in)

Doug: Andy.

Andy: Al Michaels.

Doug: That's right.

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: Announced the historic "miracle on ice" hockey game at the 1980 Winter Olympics. Andy, you're leading 30-0. Which Jack?

Andy: Jack of Hearts

Doug: Going for the non-natural royal flush, eh?

ANDY

DOM

Doug: Both players still on a straight draw. Next two cards, please.

(a few mixed reactions from the crowd)

D.J.: The 9 of Diamonds and the 10 of Clubs.

Doug: Well, no royal flush of any kind's possible. Dom, hope that makes you feel a little better. Let's see if you can get on the scoreboard with this...

B.B.

"Baywatch" Babe

(Dom buzzes in)

Doug: Dom.

Dom: Brooke Burns.

Doug: That's right.

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: Dom, you're on the board -- but behind 30-10. Which card?

Dom: 10

Doug: Very well. Going into the blind card question...

ANDY

DOM

Doug: ...Dom's working on an Ace high straight. Andy's also on a straight draw -- but the best he can do is King high. Next two cards for the round come face down.

Doug: Let's up the ante and play for 15 points. Here's the set of initials.

M.M.

Magnificent Mime

(Dom buzzes in)

Doug: Dom.

Dom: Marcel Marceau.

Doug: That's the mime.

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: You've narrowed the score, Dom. You're down by just 5. Which card would you like to complete your hand?

Dom: Left card.

Doug: The left card. Very well.

ANDY

DOM

Doug: We have the cards in place. Let's see who'll have the lead before the Poker Run.

Andy, a Queen, 10 or the other Joker will complete the King high straight. Another King, Jack or 9 would give you trips. Deej, please turn over Andy's last card.

ANDY

DOM

(a few groans)

Doug: The one thing you really didn't want you got. We'll call that Joker an Ace for one pair of Aces. Dom, a Queen or Joker completes a straight for you. Anything else higher than a 9 gives you a better pair situation. Deej, let's see who'll get the lead before the Poker Run.

ANDY

DOM

(scattered cheers)

Doug: It's a straight. Dom's 25 points richer.
