Deuces Wild Poker

Doug: And welcome back to Net Poker. Andy, already CY$96,700 to the good. CY$50,000 awaits.

Doug: You know how to win the jackpot since you've done it before. Pick a number from each row -- starting at the top. The closer you get to the bottom row, the better the odds of running into that darn outlaw.

Avoid all the outlaws, win four deuces and you win the outlaw's jackpot which is worth CY$50,000.

(audience cheers)

Doug: Even if you run into an outlaw, keep picking -- because you'll try to improve your odds of winning CY$20,000 with each deuce you manage to collect. So let's start at the top row. Just one outlaw to avoid. You're playing for the Deuces of Spades.

Andy: I'll pick the opposite of what I picked last time: 2, 9, 16, 23.

Doug: Ahhh, trying a little reverse psychology. I just hope it doesn't backfire. (a few groans) Seriously, he tried 5 through 20 in a diagonal line. Now he's trying 2 through 23 in another diagonal. Let's start with 2 first.

(outlaw says "YEEEEE-hawwww!") (audience groans)

Doug: Rats. The one number you didn't want. Huh kay. You decided on 9 next for the Deuce of Hearts. Let's see that.

(dings; audience applause)

Doug: OK, that's more like it. Deej will place the Deuces you've earned on the board later. Let's just go right to 16 and see if you can win the Deuce of Clubs.

(outlaw says "YEEEEE-hawwww!") (audience groans)

Doug: I'm beginning to think you should've stuck with the multiples of 5. Well, we're down to 23. It was good for Michael Jordan, it was good for LeBron James, I hope it's good for you. Does he win the Deuce of Diamonds with 23?

(outlaw says "YEEEEE-hawwww!") (audience groans)

Doug: Rats! *One* Deuce to play with as we move forward.

(D.J. places the Deuce of Hearts on the cards board -- and crosses her fingers)

Doug: And there it is. Well, should you have stuck with your multiple of 5 strategy? Let's see where the other seven outlaws were.

(FF reveal sfx)

Doug: Yikes. 5, 10 and 15 were good numbers; 20 was not. Well, you're going to have an uphill climb to the CY$20,000. I hope we gave the cards a great shuffle and you gave 'em a great cut. First two cards from the top of the deck come face down.

Doug: As you know, you'll choose one card for your hand, the other will be discarded immediately. We'll repeat this process for the next three pairs of cards.

Doug: At the end of it all, I hope you have cards higher than a 9 of the same suit. That makes it worth CY$20,000.

(audience cheers)

Doug: So tell us where we start -- left or right?

Andy: The left card.

Doug: Left card. Hope it's a high one. Deej?

(scattered cheers)

D.J.: Yeah, I think this is high enough. Ace of Clubs.

Doug: OK, that defines the mission.

Doug: Hope for more clubs and hope they're higher than a 9. Bring on the next two cards, please.

Doug: And again -- the decision's yours. Left or right.

Andy: The right card.

Doug: Right card this time. Another club higher than a 9?

(scattered cheers)

D.J.: Yeah! Ten of Clubs.

Doug: Hey now. So far, so good.

Doug: Now we just need royalty of Clubs. Next two cards, please.

Doug: If one of these cards is a King, Queen or Jack of Clubs, you could be closer to CY$20,000. Which card?

Andy: The left card.

Doug: Left card. Any face card of Clubs, Deej, please.

(D.J. crosses her fingers and turns over...)

(audience cheers)

D.J.: Awesome! Queen of Clubs.

Doug: Woah! Andy, we may be on the verge of a big turnaround in Deuces Wild.

Doug: All right, last two cards for the round, please.

Doug: It would be great if both of these were the remaining royalty of Clubs. But if one of these is a club higher than a 9 *and* you draw it, you win CY$20,000. Last time this game -- left or right?

Andy: The right card.

Doug: The right card. A lot of folks in the crowd have their fingers crossed for you.
