5-Card Poker

(new car music plays)

Scarlett: Any contestant who wins four consecutive games of Net Poker will play for CY$1,000,000 in Deuces Wild Poker. In addition, that player will automatically win -- A NEW CAR!!!!

(audience cheers)

Scarlett: Performance and design meet with this Tesla Roadster Convertible. This all-electric sportscar is worth an amazing CY$113,150.

(more cheers)

Scarlett: And now, Dean and Michael try to stay in the game in 5-Card Poker. Back to Doug Morris and Net Poker.

Doug: I thank you, Scarlett Gray. Dean's working on two wins right now and Michael's on one win because the last game ended early.

DEAN
MICHAEL

Doug: But now they have to battle against each other. The player who makes it to 100 points plays against Robert in the championship. We're going to start 5-Card Poker with...

THE NUMBERS GAME

Doug: ...The Numbers Game. It's been awhile since we've played this. So here's a quick refresher. I'll give you a statement that starts with a number and continues with a series of initials and small words. You must chime in and repeat the statement while telling me the words represented by the initials. For example, if I gave you...

100 Y in a C

...you'd buzz in and say "100 Years in a Century". We'll do one more example...

50 S in the U S

...here the right answer is "50 States in the United States" -- despite what some dummmies might think on "Street Smarts".

(light laughter from the crowd)

Doug: Every right answer is worth 10 points and a choice of one of two up cards for your poker hand. Buzz in and make a mistake, that means the points and control of the cards go to your opponent automatically.

We'll keep playing like this until you each have four cards -- then we play a 15-point blind card puzzle. High hand is worth 25 points. We'll then race to 100 in the Poker Run.

Michael cut the cards during the break and let's see the first two from the top of the deck.

(a few groans from the crowd)

D.J.: The Jack of Clubs and the Ace of Clubs.

Doug: Crowd obviously not recovered after that close call of the royal in Hearts in the earlier round. Dean, Michael, hands on the buzzers because here comes your first puzzle from The Numbers Game.

20 N equal a D

(Dean buzzes in)

Doug: Dean.

Dean: 20 nickels equal a dollar.

Doug: That's right.

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: In a related matter, 17 nickels equal a bag of chips in the lounge's vending machine. (light laughter from the crowd) Which card, Dean?

Dean: The Ace, please.

Doug: Ace for you.

DEAN

MICHAEL

Doug: That means the Jack goes to Michael and we're about to get two more cards.

D.J.: And we have the 10 of Clubs and the 10 of Hearts.

Doug: Two 10s up for grabs and the next puzzle's worth 10 points.

24 S on a N B A S C

(Michael buzzes in)

Doug: Michael.

Michael: 24 seconds on a National Basketball Association shot clock

Doug: All over and right.

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: Tie ballgame at ten. Which 10 do you want?

Michael: I will go with the 10 of clubs.

Doug: Very well.

DEAN

MICHAEL

Doug: Dean gets the 10 of Hearts. We get two more cards.

D.J.: The King of Diamonds and the 9 of Spades.

Doug: First Diamonds and Spade in the round -- so Michael's flush potential just went down the -- ya know. Next question.

9 D in a S S N

(Dean buzzes in)

Doug: Dean.

Dean: 9 digits in a Social Security Number.

Doug: That's correct.

DEAN
MICHAEL

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: Lead's yours, Dean -- as well as the card choice.

Dean: I want to stop Michael's possible straight. Give me the 9.

Doug: Ummm -- ohhh kayyy...

DEAN

MICHAEL

Doug: ...you're actually stopping your own straight draw. But, this make work out as we get two more cards.

D.J.: The Ace of Diamonds and the Jack of Spades.

Doug: Bullet and a knave up for grabs with this next one.

2 S of R in K R B

(Michael buzzes in)

Doug: Michael.

Michael: 2 scoops of raisins in Kellogg's Raisin Bran

Doug: That's right.

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: Tie ballgame at 20. Michael, which card.

Michael: I will take the Ace.

Doug: And with that...

DEAN

MICHAEL

Doug: ...Michael needs a Queen to complete a straight. Best Dean can do is a pair. Next two cards are face down.

Doug: And this is where we up the ante. Fifteen points with this puzzle. High hand for 25. We're breaking the tie with this.

4 S on the F of N Z

(Michael buzzes in)

Doug: Michael.

Michael: 4 stars on the flag of New Zealand

Doug: Yes indeed.

DEAN
MICHAEL

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: You enjoy the lead. Question is will you still enjoy the lead after you pick a card? Pick a card, please.

Michael: I will go with the left card.

Doug: Left card for you.

DEAN

MICHAEL

Doug: And Dean got the right card. Dean, we start with you. You could use another Ace, Jack, 10 or 9. Let's have a look.

DEAN

MICHAEL

Doug: OK, pair of Jacks for you. Michael, if this last card for you is a Jack, you're hand would be better with the King kicker. Deej, let's see who wins the 25 points.
