5-Card Poker

(new car music plays)

Scarlett: Any contestant who wins four consecutive games of Net Poker will play for CY$1,000,000 in Deuces Wild Poker. In addition, that player will automatically win -- A NEW CAR!!!!

(audience cheers)

Scarlett: The Audi R8 Coupe Quattro. This fantastic sportscar comes with a 4.2 liter V8 engine, R-tronic gearbox, double-clutch gearbox, 10-disc CD changer, 1000-watt sound system -- and much more. A prize worth CY$110,350.

And now, Matt and Eddie try to stay in the game in 5-Card Poker. Back to Doug Morris and Net Poker.

(more cheers)

Doug: And thanks, Scarlett. Indeed it is time for our elimination round. In this first part of the round, we'll test your musical knowledge in a theme called...

WHO AND
THE WHATS

Doug: ...Who and the Whats. All you have to do is complete the name of a musical act.

An example from an earlier show. If I said "Paul Revere and the...", you would chime in and say Raiders.

Buzz in with the right answer and you earn 10 points plus the choice of one of two cards for your 5-card poker hand. Chime in and give me a wrong answer -- and the points and control of the cards go to your opponent.

Remember, whenever you take a card, your opponent automatically takes the card declined. We'll keep that up until the 15-point blind card question. High hand wins 25 points. Then we'll race to 100 points in another Poker Run.

We've wiped the slate clean in terms of score. So you're starting at zero points. Now Matt and Eddie tied for second at the end of the last Poker Run. Since that tie involved the champ, Matt cut the cards. And the first two cards from the chute are coming shortly.

D.J.: And we start with the Ace of Clubs and the 9 of Clubs.

Doug: Ying and yang of Clubs. Talk about gettin' crunk.

(some folks in the audience plus the crew dressed in Saints gear laugh)

Doug: In any event, first musical act of the round.

Paul McCartney and...

(Matt buzzes in)

Doug: Matt.

Matt: Wings.

Doug: Wings is right.

MATT
EDDIE

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: Little Net Poker fun fact. Paul McCartney was the first halftime show entertainer at the Super Bowl since that wardrobe malfunction seen 'round the world. And it a bit of irony, during that Super Bowl, all of us on the staff were chowing down on -- wings.

(light laughter from the crowd)

Doug: Matt, choose a card, please.

Matt: Ace.

Doug: Very well. An Ace for you...

MATT

EDDIE

Doug: ...Eddie gets a, dare I call it, Drew Brees card. Two more cards from the chute are coming.

D.J.: And they are the Jack of Diamonds and the Jack of Spades.

Doug: Two knaves this time with this next 10-point query.

Joan Jett & The...

(Eddie buzzes in)

Doug: Eddie.

Eddie: Blackhearts.

Doug: And you tie the score at 10.

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: Well, which Jack would you like?

Eddie: Not much of a difference there. I guess I'll take the spade for color symmetry -- or something.

Doug: Well, there is that...

MATT

EDDIE

Doug: ...and if you were to turn a Spade upside down, you'd have a -- blackheart -- sort of. Anyway, two more cards, please.

D.J.: Whatev. Queen of Clubs and the King of Diamonds.

Doug: Both players would be on a straight draw after this question that's going to break the tie. Here comes the next musical act. Ready?

Danny & The...

(Eddie buzzes in)

Doug: Eddie.

Eddie: Juniors.

Doug: That's right.

MATT
EDDIE

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: Which card can we interest you in?

Eddie: I'll hop to the king.

Doug: And with that...

MATT

EDDIE

Doug: ...Eddie has King Jack 9. Matt with Ace Queen Jack. Two more cards, please.

D.J.: The Queen of Diamonds and the Ace of Spades.

Doug: This could get interesting. Next act...

Steve Martin & The...

(Matt buzzes in)

Matt: Steep Canyon Rangers

Doug: That's right.

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: Also acceptable. Steve Martin & The Toot Uncommons -- best known for their "King Tut" novelty tune. Matt, we're tied at 20. Which card?

Matt: I'll take Eddie off the straight and take the queen.

Doug: And you're also out of contention for a straight as well...

MATT

EDDIE

Doug: ...Matt has two Queens with Ace-Jack. Eddie has no pair and no straight draw with Ace-King-Jack-9. Next two cards for the round come face down.

Doug: And let's up the ante. Fifteen points is the value for this next act. Then the high hand for 25. Here we go...

Dr. Teeth and The...

(Eddie buzzes in)

Doug: Eddie.

Eddie: Electric Mayhem.

Doug: House band on "The Muppet Show". That's correct.

MATT
EDDIE

(ding; audience applause)

Doug: All right, Eddie, you lead 35-to-20 at the present time. Which card do you think will help you make that lead bigger?

Eddie: I'll take the left and hope it's a big one.

Doug: Very well. It needs to be a big one to stay in business.

MATT

EDDIE

Doug: Eddie's last card has to be higher than a Queen -- or else we know for sure Matt wins 25 points. D.J., please flip over Eddie's last card.
